Has anyone been that can recommend a hotel? Quite central if possible, don't want to do that much walking.

Also, has anyone been in May? I'd quite like the option to just sit by the pool one day but didn't know if it would be warm enough? Google tells me the average is 16 degrees which sounds not quite warm enough for sun bathing!

Don't have any recommendations for hotels but I went in February a few years ago and it was warm enough to sunbathe on the beach.

I have been to Spain lots over the years and Barcelona twice and have been out of season where it has been really warm and then in season where it has been below average and rainy. An average is just that - an amalgamation of the high and low so it really does depend on the weather when you go. It is normally tshirt weather at that time of year but depends on how warm you want it to sunbathe! I'm quite nesh so it has to be baking hot for me to strip to my bikini.

Sorry can't remember the hotel we stayed in each time. One was good but not very central the other was really cheap and a bit grotty but right in the middle. If I find the names will re-post.

Can't recommend a hotel as I always go self catering but if you go you must go to the fairy bar - it is like no bar you have ever been in in your life. It's towards the bottom of Las Ramblas shortly before the christopher columbus statue, on the left hand side down a little alley - you might need to ask someone when you get near but it is definitely worth a visit.

Thanks for the assistance on averages! ?

Maybe I didn't phrase it well enough but what I was getting at was if anyone else had been at that time of year and what the weather had been like. I realise it could be snowing but just an idea of how others had found it was what I was after.

We stopped mid June two years ago and it was gorgeous weather we stopped at the mirror hotel it was amazing slightly away from Las ramblas but near the underground so your in the action in just a few minutes. Word of random advise don't stop and watch the street acts that send things into the air they have watchers seeing how easily distracted you are so they can help themselves to your stuff. X

Good tip thanks! I had heard about the pickpockets on Las Ramblas.

Will look up that hotel too.

We went for H's 30th a couple of years ago in November and stayed here: https://www.h10hotels.com/en/barcelona-hotels/h10-montcada nice hotel with a roof terrace and good location.

H10 have a few hotels in Barcelona and I literally just got an email offering 20% off one of the others - H10 Itaca - so if you're interested let me know and I'll forward the email to you!
