Bare minerals

AprilBride15, 17 February, 2015 at 13:54 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi

A potential MUA has suggested I buy Bare Minerals for the big day. I'm sure I read something on here a little while ago about it not being good for the photos (I could be getting completely muddled up!)

Anyway I cant find the thread ... does anyone know if Bare minerals is ok?

I'd be interested in this too as I use Bare Minerals on a daily basis (brilliant cover for surgery scars!).

I'd been thinking of going to them for make-up advice.

It's full of titanium dioxide, which puts you at risk of weird white patches under camera flash. I swapped out my usual under eye concealer for my wedding for that very reason. I'm not sure I'd risk it!

I used this and would fully recommend I don't really wear much makeup and I think it looked pretty good on the photos and lasted all day

    Thank you all.

Ink doll: yes I seem to remember this now (knew I wasn't going mad - thanks for clarifying)

I've heard similar things about avoiding it, especially if a direct flash is used. I'd probably avoid to be on the safe side.

I'm not that keen on bare minerals Make up. I don't think it gives me a good coverage. Just my opinion though.

This is only an issue in certain lighting with direct flash and is a problem for all foundations with SPF in .... However a decent photographer won't be using direct flash on you .... In natural light it's not a problem and in a darker room a good tog will bounce the light ... so aim flash at the ceiling etc ... Here is a link to a really helpful article on this subject xx

I had a panic as i use Estée Lauder double wear as it really suits my skin and had just planned on using this for the day, then I read on here about titanium dioxide etc and panicked. I spoke directly to my photography about it and she said she will not be using direct flash and therefore it won't be an issue at all. Also, I did a bit of research and there are so many foundations that contain it - even without SPF so I have just decided to wear it. It works really nicely with my sensitive skin and the photographer isn't going to be coming at me with loads of flash guns so I'm sure it will be fine for me. Also, just think how many different foundations brides must use!
