BearFaced ladies of Hitched.

Ali_G, 31 October, 2012 at 15:36 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 53

Just had an idea.

Children in Need this year are doing a BearFaced campaign. On Friday 9th November, they are asking for all women to go completely make-up free - all apart from a pawprint beauty spot.

My idea was this...

How about all the ladies of OT take part (if you want to of course). I'll create a my donate fundraising page and everyone involved can donate a couple of quid (or however much you want to donate).

On Friday 9th I'll create a thread on here, and all the ladies taking part can upload a photo of themselves being "bearfaced".

You will be able to buy pawprint temporary tattoos from the Post Office too for 50p, 42p of which will be donated to the charity. Or you can just eyeliner a pawprint on.

What does everyone think?

More information about the campaign is here:

I'd do it but I don't think anyone would sponsor me as wouldn't look any different to normal! I love the idea though

Fab idea. I can't go without my facepaint though, it'd scare the kids on the school run.

I currently do this every day - I didn't realise I should be asking people for money for me doing it though.

Ha, this. I'd happily paint a pawprint on my face, but I rarely wear makeup so I doubt anyone would sponsor me not to wear any.

I am going to be completely honest. I couldn't do it. I hate me without any make-up on and unless it was do or die then the makeup stays. Great idea though Ali, but sadly I won't be taking part, happy to sponsor those that do though.

Completely goes against the aim of the campaign! You're supposed to be all "I'm a woman who is just as beautiful without make-up as I am with!"

Sorry to be a spoilsport but there's no way I could ever do that. You wouldn't even recognise me and my skin is just hideous. If it were today I'd be forgiven for it being Halloween n all, what with a scary mask-like bareface

I know, hence the "only if you want to, of course" in my OP.

I would much rather donate any spare money I had myself direct to a charity for abused children than humiliate myself by venturing out without make up on.

And I usually wear make up daily. I'll get H and the cat to sponsor me at least a tenner each, they are ever so good like that.

Wow - it seems that there are really split opinions about this!

I don't think I would do it - I wear make up to work as it helps me feel more grown-up and the 'boss' around the teenagers I teach. My all-female department won't do it either. Also, don't know if the principal would like the staff to have drawings on their faces in case it creates a school of children with penises drawn on their face. It always comes down to penises with them...

    Awwww flowmo you softy!

Do you know what else I remembered, our parking at the pub on Saturday should have been refunded off our food bill. However, as we got so much free food, I don't feel too bad about it!

So to clarify it was just in response to Ali saying it's the whole idea about the campaign. Anyway I still think it's a great idea, but just not something I feel comfortable doing.

I'll do it. Not sure anyone would sponsor me to sit in the house make up free though if I'm not working that day!

I couldn't do it either. I don't wear a lot of make up but the only time I have left the house in the last 10 years without foundation and concealer was when I went to my mum's for my make up trial. It's probably all in my head as I doubt the make up I wear makes that much difference, but I would literally feel anxious at the thought of going a whole day without it. My own deep-seated insecurity from my teenage years I'm afraid.

I will definitely donate to those who do though!

I only wear foundation on a night out, my skin would be awful if I wore it every day. I'm surprised at how many people couldn't go a day without make up. Do you wear it even if you're just nipping to the shop?

I put on foundation and concealer every morning, even if I'm not planning on leaving the house. I feel uncomfortable without it.

I saw this campaign thing in Heat today (?). My first thought was that the women in there look great, but that's not because they're not wearing make-up, it's because the photos were done with some very flattering lighting and then airbrushed to within an inch of their lives.

My second thought was that there'd be no way I could raise money this way as I never wear make-up anyway! I know I don't look great like this, but I just don't care enough to bother every day. If other people don't like what I look like, it's their problem and not mine.

I never really wear any to work so would be wasted on me...

I might wear a fake tache to work for the next month for Movember though!!!
