Beauty / fitness palns of action for the big day...

MrsW-to-be, 7 October, 2013 at 17:53 Posted on Planning 0 11

Just being nosey really as to how much people are planning in the way of beauty treatments, dieting etc for the big day? I did start out with the "he loves me just the way I am" view but as time has gone by I seem to have become more concious as to how I want to feel at my best when the big day arrives.

I'll start:

1) I've been having microdermabrasion facials (the less intrusive ones with the wand that they move over your skin, not the crystal blasting ones) and I have to say that they are amazing, my skin is so much nicer, all of my new skin products are being absorbed by my skin properly rather than sitting on the surface and my pores have been reduced, especially on the side of my nose.

2) Spent a fortune on some new face creams and retinol based products - which have been brilliant, especially combined with the microdermabrasion facials.

3) I've been having a personal trainer once a week and signed up to "October boot camp" which is also once a week just for this month.

4) I've had eyelash extensions and I'm going to keep these topped up with a longer appointment just before the big day to make sure that they are at their best - they are really comfortable and don't even realise I'm wearing them

5) Been trying to eat more healthily but fell off the wagon today and scoffed some Thornton's chocolates - enjoyed every mouthful but need to be extra good for the rest of the week now!

How about you girls?

Ooh I'm really intrigued by microdermabrasion - I've never had great skin. I was a spotty teen, and was always told that my skin would clear as I got older. It did clear a little but I have always had big spots at 'that time of the month' that scar and can take weeks/months to disappear. Since turning 30 it seems to be getting worse again Smiley sad Instead of waking up with one new spot it's a handful Smiley sad I've heard good things about murad products but they're so expensive! It doesn't help that I'm so tight that I'm not willing to gamble on products/treatments! Haha

Will definitely be getting eye lash extensions to cover up my stumpy ones on the big day! How much were yours and how long do they last?

I've got a little bit of toning to do so I've been eating extra healthily and tracking my calories on my fitness pal app. I've got out of the habit of exercising, i used to love running but intend to start back with the 30day shred DVD to kick start my motivation! I don't think I'd dare see a personal trainer - I'd be way too embarrassed by my lack of fitness!

I'm planning on joining the gym very soon as I've still got weight to lose and I need to kick myself up the a*se! And stop eating chocolate.

Other than that I'll probably be sticking to my normal skin routine of exfoliating face wipes, beauty serum and day cream. Seems to work for me, I get the occasional evil spot but other than that my skin is fairly ok. *Touch wood!*

I would love eyelash extensions but I freak out when people go near my eyes, which is strange as I can put my contact lenses in, I just hate anyone else going near them.

I may "treat myself" to some waxing as we go on honeymoon day after wedding and I quite like the idea of no shaving for a couple of weeks!

I need something to help with my skin!!!!

I have gone darker as when my hair was blonde it was in bad condition and I want glossy hair on the day not straw like hair! I started Bikram yoga but I hate it so now on the search for something else - I don't want to lose weight but I need to tone....any suggestions. Will have fake lashes done a few days before the wedding - I have had them done loads before so I know they are for me.

I'm joining a Crossfit gym in a couple of weeks at the recommendation of a friend to tone up and lose weight... I went for a taster session last week and was a cripple all weekend I ached that much, lol so a bit nervous ?

I have also treated myself to some Dermalogica products and been making a real effort to stick a proper routine of cleansing, toning, etc ;-)

DdPunk - I can't recommend Microderm facials enough, the one with the wand that is massaged in to your face is less invasive than the crystal blasting ones so your skin doesn't go red or anything, I got on the train after mine and then went shopping without any make-up on and my skin was fine, no redness or anything.

My skin has been so much nicer since having just one of them and that was about 6 weeks ago, I have nother one booked in for this weekend but my skin products are sinking in to my skin rather than sitting on the surface and my skin looks fresher and healthier. I was recommended them by one of my friends who suffers with a bit of acne and has some scarring, she had a course of them before her wedding and I remember how clear and lovely her skin was, the difference was amazing and they can use different grades of crystals for any scars too. I paid about £55 for mine and it was money well spent.

MrsMain2B - My mum works at Cadbury world so gets laods of chocolate for pennies and I am the biggest chocoholic ever so it has been a tough few months!

Eyelash extensions are amazing, I've had then for about 3 weeks as I wanted to get used to how they look on me before the big day. When they were first done they freaked me out a bit as I wasn't used to having long black eyelashes (I'm very blonde so my eyelashes are blonde) then as the day went on I got used to them and by the next day I was loving them!

I got mine topped up yesterday so they are nice and fresh again, basically you get them topped up ever 2-3 weeks or if you want them as a one off then they will last about 3 weeks, they fall off as your natural lashes fall out.

I'd had heard some bad stories about them but if you go to a decent salon and expect to pay a bit more then you won't have any problems, the place I go was recommended by someone I work with and she has had her lashes for 2 years - she's addicted to them!

I've been having the individual lashes and they look really natural, just like you have really healthy long lashes and no need for mascara or anything - I love them!

I paid £60 for the initial set and then it's £23 for top ups, the difference in how they make your eyes look is really something.

    xx

I still have around 7lbs to lose before the big day, my dress fits but it will be more comfy with a couple of inches gone.

I will be drinking a lot of water in the months leading up to it, it's the best skin routine! I am planning on having my eyebrows shaped and tinted (I have very light coloured eyebrows).

I was also thinking of taking zinc to ward off any nasty colds that seem to be rampant in February/March. I always get coldsores when I'm rundown so trying not to get rundown is another aim!

Me too, so I have been taking Lysine tablets for the last month. You just take one a day, any signs of a cold sore then up the dose i was told. You can get them from Holland & Barret, have a look.

I bought this DVD when I was off work a couple of weeks ago but still haven't plucked up the motivation to take the cellophane off ? I did start Zumba about 8 weeks ago and absolutely love it - I've always thought that any group fitness class would be my idea of hell but actually it's great fun and I look forward to it each week! I am seriously thinking about joining the gym as well, I have been a few time over the years and have enjoyed it but I never seem to stick at it for more than about 8 months. Now I've got just over 8 months left so figured it might be a sensible time to join.

I've been dieting for about 2 1/2 years and have lost a fair bit of weight but would like to lose another couple of stone ideally, not likely though because the weight loss has really slowed down over the last year or so. My bad habits with the diet are well and truly established now and so it's not easy to get back into it.

I'd love to have the eyelash extensions - I've heard some bad things about them as well though so am not convinced yet even though I love the look of them. I will definitely book in for a series of facials before the day, my skincare routine is pretty good but I do get clogged up pores and don't moisturise as often as I should. I'll also book in for some gel manicures to try and strengthen my nails and get the cuticles in decent condition before the big day so that (hopefully) I won't need false nails since I guarantee that I'd have flicked at least one off by the end of the ceremony!

I've been doing facemasks about 3x a week (whenever I have a bath) in an attempt to draw the nasties out! I wouldn't mind some advice on whether I should try something more hardcore though.

I swim and row once a week already so haven't upped the fitness - it's very difficult making yourself go swimming when it's cold and dark outside though!

I'm definitely going to look more into these Microdermabrasion facials. I have lots of bumps and blackheads on my cheeks and I would love smooth skin for W day and honeymoon. I've started a skin care regime and I'm trying really hard to stick to it but some nights I just fall into bed after taking my make-up off. I get a few spots on my chest too so I'm trying hard to keep cleansing my chest to stop any spots there.

I have an induction tomorrow at a gym. OH has agreed to come with me for moral support. I'm hoping to do Body Pump, spinning and swimming. I'm hoping to loose around 7Kg.

I want to start taking hair and nail vitamins and I may get a Brazilian Blow Dry done. Has anyone had one done? Would you recommend them?

I started a thread similar to this a few months ago to get some ideas on what I should be doing! Since then (and with 7 weeks to go!) I have been on a diet (first calorie counting and then celebrity slim which is a very low carb diet). I have lost around 12lbs so far and would like to lose another 6lbs although that's going to be hard in the next 7 weeks! I have also started having my eyelash extensions done, and I'm glad I did as the first time I had an allergic reaction to the gel pads the technician used! Since then they have been fine and they look great, but I do get a stuffy nose for a day or so every time I have them done!

I am now hoping to have time to fit in more swimming and gym time to tone up ready for my honeymoon - really need to dig deep for motivation now that the nights are drawing in!

I've upped my face scrubs and plan to try and just look after myself better in general over the next few weeks. Controversially, I shall also have a few sunbeds before the wedding ?

I have got an aromatherapy massage, eyebrow tint and shape and a head massage booked in for 3 days before the wedding!
