Beautyfying

Mispinkprincess, 27 June, 2014 at 15:27 Posted on Planning 0 14

How much Beautyfying are you doing ahead of your wedding at home and how much in a salon?

i colour my own hair (but having it styled on the day by my MUA)

I'll be doing my own pedicure but may get shellac on my nails

I've just bought a veet easy wax to play with for my hen on Saturday so my wax my own legs, think I'll leave lady bits to the expert tho!

I get my eyebrows waxed/threaded

and I'm just using a gradual everyday tanner

you?

I'm gonna have eyelash extensions and something done to my nails, maybe gel, in a salon but everything else at home. I'm doing my own hair and makeup.

Oh blimey, I've not even thought about this, lol! I'll be colouring my own hair but my friend is styling it on the day. Make-up being done by a prefessional as I never wear it (only wearing it coz of the photos really!). Nails I will do myself the day before as will probably only be a french manicure. Eye-brows I'll do myself as they have no proper shape to them anyway, and I'm getting ready in the bridal suite on the day and they have a HUGE claw-foot vitcorian tub so was planning to have a nice long soak in that and shave all my bits and pieces (even splash out with a new blade!) ready to be pampered for hair and make-up. So, actually I guess I have thought about it a little, lol.

Good question though as interested to see how much the other hitchers are doing themselves... (I'm a bit of a DIY-er anyway TBH) x

I'll be colouring my own hair, but I'll be going down the route of

    Getting my eyebrows shaped

Having a hair and makeup lady

    Gel nails (my own pedicure)

    Eyelash extensions

I have my hair coloured at the hairdressers, so will keep that up, my hairdresser will come to my house on the wedding day to style it, a best friend is a makeup artist, she used to do weddings although now works in the West End, so she has that covered. I'll continue to get my brows threaded to ensure a good shape, I'll have eyelash extensions (that'll be a first for me!), shellac nails I think, and hair removal done at a salon :-)

Against everyone's better judgement, I may also use the tanning beds in the run up the big day (no need to lecture I know the advice that's out there etc etc) but I used them in the run up to a special occasion before and I didn't tan, so much as get an even glow and it also improved my spot prone skin.

I'm ding my own nails and toes as I have sensationail stuff so they will be gelled.

I'm having m hair dyed as normal a the hairdressers a week before to allow for it to 'settle' although I'm styling it myself on the day. I will keep my eyebrows under control myself but I am having a MUA on the day.

Waxing wise I'll prob do myself as I usually do then just shave underarms and legs as I don't mind doing that too much

I'll also be using the sun beds as I want a natural tan and it really helps my gross spot prone skin.

Word to the wise about eyelash extensions - they are REALLY REALLY annoying. And this is from someone who wears full eye makeup every day, and massive strip lashes on nights out too.

I had a trial about 2 months before the wedding, as I'd never had them before. My reasoning was that I wanted to make sure I wouldn't have an allergic reaction or anything. They are very hard and rigid, and if you get water on your face in the shower, you can't just wipe your eyes. By the time of my second shower, I learnt to keep some cotton pads in there to blot my eyes dry before I opened them after my face got wet.

I actually went and had them removed 5 days later as they were so annoying. Just before I went in to get them removed, a bunch of lashes started peeling off (and yes, I did then touch the area), and then a whole clump fell out, taking my own eyelashes with them and leaving a bald patch. They grew back to full length within about 6 weeks I think.

Despite this, which I acknowledge was half my fault, I did toy with still getting a set for the wedding, but only if I could get them removed within 3 days, prior to any similar problems repeating. I couldn't manage that date-wise, due to going on a mini-moon, so I shelved the idea and went with false strip lashes on the day. Didn't have any problems with them coming loose luckily.

I'm having hair cut and coloured in a salon. Going for a manicure and pedicure and having HD brows and eyelash extensions.

I'll also have someone do my hair and makeup. I never spoil myself like this and think that I won't ever have the chance again.

I wanted to have facials bit think that I've left it too late to start.

i may go for a couple of sunbeds too if my skin starts to play up. The sun always helps to clear up my skin. X

I use a sunbed regularly anyway so I'll definitely be doing that

I'm having eyelash extensions/false eyelashes (MUA)

    Make up (MUA)

I will be dying my own hair, as always, but having it styled professionally

Nails (MUA who is also a beautician) as my nails are shockingly bad!

    Waxing

    Eyebrow tinting, as usual

I have been going to the hairdresser to get my hair highlighted every 6 weeks, giving myself facials, going to gym class, I am a beauty therapist so I will be doing my own waxing and nails and tinting. On the day of the wedding I am doing my own make-up, I will have a hairdresser to do my hair though x

Highlights for me (final touch up on Monday!)

eyebrow and lash tint, eyebrow threading (usual maintenance for me to be fair), a gel mani/pedi and an underarm wax. I had the option for a vajazzle as part of the package........ I'm still wondering if I dare! (For jokes obviously....)

ill shave my legs as per and moisturise the crap out of myself... Excuse my language. I have a warm skin tone anyway so I'll just use a gradual tanning moisturiser this final week.

I really want a massage and a facial in the run up but I don't afford it really. That and I won't have the time.

I've been extra extra good about my skin care with an advanced regime (cleanse tone moisturise serum moisturise w/SPF). I'm doing my own Make up and it's only going to be as good as the canvas I give it Smiley smile

I'm going on two spa days before the wedding and will be having HD brows and gel nails on hands and feet for the wedding day. I am also getting my hair cut and a full head of highlights 5 days before the wedding. For the hen do I am also going to a vintage hair pop up shop to get my hair done.

I dye my own hair and will still do this although I have my hairdresser coming to the venue to style it on the day,

I don't wear much make up day to day so was going to get my niece who is a beautician to do it for me, but I've treated myself to some posh new stuff and have been practising so I will now do it myself.

i will also be having a few sunbeds just to give me an even glow and match h2b who only has to look at the sun to tan lol!

my niece will be doing shellac on my hands and toes the day before as well as keeping my eyebrows in check

all hair removal will be done by me as I am a manhoosive chicken when it comes to waxing and can only just cope with my eyebrows being done lol!!

other than that, the before mentioned posh make-up purchase also included cleanser, toner, serum and moisturiser so am trying to stay strict with that, but again that's all new to me as well lol!!! Xx

Ooo I am going to try to not to plough too much money into this...

Hair coloured by one BM, styled hopefully by my sister,

Would get nails professionally done (never had falsies)!.

May get my eyebrows professionally done, as they are a couple of little nightmares at times.

I do my own slap (dont want to risk the tangoed look from a pro)

    But yeah, screw waxing/tanning

Oh, I will have my teeth whitened at home too :-)

Ladies I really urge you to think twice about using sunbeds - I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma skin cancer oct 2013, hadn't been on a sunbed in 10yrs & a summer holiday once maybe every 3 yrs, never burning. I only used sunbeds once a week in summer months but the docs, consultants etc are 99% sure it's my sunbed usage that caused it.

There are no words to describe the impact this has had in my life or my loved ones. We are expecting our first child (an absolute miracle in amongst surgery etc) and their risk of having the cancer from birth is 25% and they are 50% more likely to get it in later life.

This May not deter any of you but please do not be so ignorant as I was to think 'it'll never happen to me'.
