Beds - to share or not to share

cherrybloom, 22 January, 2013 at 20:13 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 75

So I read somewhere that one of the keys to maintaining a good relationship is seperate duvets, now what do you think..do you, would you do...

1) Separate duvets

2) Separate beds a la 50's - only convene for "couple time"?

3) Seperate rooms - only convene for "couple time"?

4) Double bed (close)

5) Super King bed (close but not too close)

    this.

we currently have a king size and we cant handle anything smaller, drives us mad. Its not like we are the biggest people in the world.

If I had to go to another room for couple time, I dont think we would ever have it!

H was only saying the other day that we should get separate quilts. I thinks ours is too cold and get dressed to go to bed ?.

Apparently it's the done thing in Norway (according to H).

Normal sized double bed . I often dream of having my own fartfree room . When all the kids move out I might do it .

On our wedding night we had the biggest bed ever. We need that bed. After some 'couple time' as you call it, we had the best sleep ever! I think cos we don't like to be on too of each other so to speak. I'd feel too lonely in another room though

We have a double atm, a king in the box awaiting a purchase of a new mattress.. but i wouldn't consider sleeping in a diff room to him, he doesn't really steal the duvet and if he does i just steal it back.. i think i would miss him if i slept in a different room to him.. would miss the cuddles and if we had to go to another room for couple time i doubt it would happen as regular as we do from just cuddling in bed before sleep...

I also like it because its when we get a good chance to talk too..!

We have a double at the mo, luckily he sleeps tidy and doesn't really break wind in bed.... the aim is to get a super king when we buy the new house that can actually fit it BUT I could do with one night a week in a separate room, he gives off too much heat...is that bad Lol!! Not more though I would miss him...shh don't tell him I said that.

We have a double, but I so wish it was a king. H migrates to the middle of the bed and flings his arms about - I've lost count of the number of time he's fetched us a crack while he's sleeping - he gets recurring nightmares of flying insects buzzing all around him, so he's beating them away.

We do have a kingsize duvet and flat sheet - only way I actually get some covers!

I like sharing a bed with him though, he's much warmer than I am. Much better than a hot water bottle.

We have a king and I struggle in anything smaller as I like to starfish. I don't think I take up more than half a king, but after a quick snuggle I like my own space.

We are having a super king bed delivered next week. I think I'm more excited by this than if George Clooney was waiting for me in my old bed, nekkid with handcuffs and a whip.

King-size for us. I am the invader and often punch/elbow/head-butt Boy during the night. He thinks I'm asleep when I do it...

I don't mind touching and we often fall asleep a bit tangled up (we have a funny position with our legs that I couldn't begin to describe but it's probably quite normal). However, I don't really like sharing his pillow, nor him being on mine. Not only because we have different pillows (him foamy, me feathery) but thought of all the dribble makes me want to vom. So from above, we will be making a triangle - legs together, heads miles apart.

Double. We're "cuddly sleepers" (although H may do the "hug and roll" when I'm asleep without my knowledge...)

I don't like king size beds, whenever we've had one on holiday we end up miles apart and I feel lonely. Plus the duvet ALWAYS ends up predominantly on my side, so thats not really a problem (even though I don't even purposefully try to hog it!)

We have a double and I like it. I would possibly go up to King but not particularly bothered by it.

We have a king size bed, we both are fans of starfishing!

I think H would be more than happy for us to both have double duvet each though. I like to curl up and wrap the duvet around me, almost like cocoon!

when ever he comes to bed after me, he tuts then grabs the duvet and flips it out and tugs it to get this share! He also goes a bit OCD and straightens out his half neatly before getting in!

We have our own duvets, I like having the duvet tucked in so im all snuggled up and warm. I sleep with earplugs in as his breathing irritates me so the separate room appeals but I think I'd miss him.....after a while.

We have a king size and I would love a super king at some point. I just love how humongous they are.

We fall asleep having a cuddle or spoon, then both roll away to our own sides to sleep. I'm a fidget, I couldn't keep still in a perma-cuddle.

We only have a double due to our tiny bedroom and I don't mind it. Whenever we've slept in bigger beds we always squish up together anyway.

I'd hate to sleep in a different room regularly. Wouldn't say no to the extra duvet though!

We (or should I say I) always fall asleep spooning. This probably sums it up:

M and ex H had a super kingsize , we needed it as both our boys got in with us. It also came in handy when we were on bad terms, ?

We have a double bed with a king size duvet.

If we had a spare room though I'd sleep in it most nights thoguh. I like to go to bed early-ish, read for half an hour, trn the light off and go to sleep in a dark quiet room with the window ajar for fresh air. OH can't sleep unless he watches TV or a film or something and always disturbs me, he likes the window closed and the heating turned up. We still can't agree on a compromise 14 years after moving in together.

We have a double, which we share about 70% of the time. When I am too sore that H is scared to roll over and hurt me in his sleep he will go in the spare room. Ideally we would have 2 doubles pushed together like they do on holidays to make one mahoosive bed but our room isn't big enough.

We have separate beds at the moment as baby T still sleeps with me for most of the night & it's too squished with all 3 of us in the bed, especially as T sprawls & takes up the middle half, leaving me & H with a quarter each & perched on the edge all night ?

If we had the money & room, I'd love a super kingsize bed.

We have a normal size double and a quilt each. I can't wait for us to move into a new place so we can upgrade the size of the bed, the way the flat is laid out makes it nigh on impossible to get anything bigger. We do sleep close, normally with one ankle intertwined, but I would like to be able to spread out a bit more.

We have a king size bed , electric blanket with dual controls but oh says we might as well have a single as I practically lay on him! He's warm & cuddly! He hates me doing it. Even If by some miracle I stay at my side, my feet will always be tucked into his which drives him batty.

What I do think is a saving grace is he keeps all his clothes etc in the spare bedroom. He is a messy bugger I literally couldnt sleep with all his crap strewn all over the room.

    I can't share a bed with my H. I can't even share a duvet with him.

I hate being touched when i'm trying to sleep, so it's easier for H to sleep elsewhere. The last time we shared a bed was Christmas eve. I had a terrible nights sleep.
