Being awake 33 hours and drinking a lot..

glider12000, 12 September, 2008 at 21:19 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 18

...and it still hurts a lot☹️

Feel so bad, have been strong for my friends and have been in the pub since about 10.30. Have been onm tv countless times on Sky News and am in the guardian.. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2008/sep/12/theairlineindustry.travelleisure5

I wish I could wake up tomorrow and find this was some nasty dream, sadly not

Aww, your ears must be burning as just talking about you with another hitcher.

Feel very sorry to hear the news today and hope something fabulous is just around the corner for you ?

Oh dear. You must be in a terrible state. I feel for you and all your colleagues. Its hard enough for all your customers, but at least they have a job to go back to.

After tonight, and the inevitable (?) hangover tomorrow, try not to wallow too much. I know that is a lot easier said than done. Self pity doesn't get you anywhere if you carry on too long (sounding like my mother there... so sorry!)

There will be something for you, around the corner. From what I've read of you, you're an intelligent, nice bloke, and I'm sure you'll find something soon.

Glider, you've had some shitty news, dude. I know it's crap.

Put yourself to bed and get some sleep ?

I'm really sorry Glider, it must be really rotten for you and your colleagues.

I would step away from the booze and take yourself off to bed. It won't all go away like a dream but it will help you see things more clearly. Take care ?

WHHS - only how about a pint of water before you go, and a bucket by the side of your bed.

You have a plan B - hold on to that, it might stop you going do-lally!

Thanks everyone, this is the first time i`ve been alone since I have found out and really starting to let things out now.

Whilst not in the best situation i`m really hoping that my friends Paula and Spencer can keep well, they have just hada daughter Lily, and this really isn`t the best timing for them, and other friends that are either recently married or pregnant.

Hoping Emma has a safe trip home during the evening, as from speaking to her they`ve been having good and bad moments, so will be good when knowing all the crews downroute, 3 in Orlando, 2 in Sharm, 1 in Tobago and the guys who are manning the base in Cyprus are back home. Well going to try and get some sleep and see where I end up in the morning.

Thanks again for your support, especially as I know a lot of you think i`m a PITA. Thanks again.

I'm sorry to hear you've been affected by this.

Something else will come up but in the mean time, you can add it to your Labour grudge.

Not sure if we can redeploy to XL Germany or France, but will look into it, as they are both still operating, but unsure as to what extent.

So sorry Glider. I work for the newspapers in a copytaking capacity so have taken - and pre-read - lots of stories today due for publication tomorrow. Sad for all concerned.

I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel and something else turns up soon. Good luck.

Ah glider ? redundancy sucks, like a lot of people I've been there. It's horrid. It may be hard to see it now but hopefully one day when you're doing something fabulous you'll look back on it and it won't hurt any more and you may even be able to look at it all positively.

Glider, not sure if you saw my post yesterday but get on www.aviationjobsearch.com and get your applications out. There are a couple of airlines recruiting - although obviously not many - but they are going to inundated with applications in the next few days so get yours in first.

Astraeus were recruiting for LGW and BMI for LHR. Fingers crossed for you.

I'd be banging on Astraeus' door just for the fact that Bruce Dickinson works for them ?

BGB, having worked for them I'd only be banging on the door if it was the only one with anyone behind it. However, Glider knows all about AEU.

What about approaching City Airport carriers?

Is it package charters you want to stay with? or is it a case of (please forgive if this sounds rude) reputation of being cabin crew for them?

I would also CV off to EasyJet - They are expanding.

Glider - May be of help - My uncle (one who set up Worldtracer) knows which carriers are expanding prior to crew being recruited - He is over tommorrow, so will ask for you.

    Hope something comes up soon?

    What about this lot?

My sister knows of a few people who have moved to them recently.
