Being Ripped Off.....

far2calm, 24 July, 2012 at 15:36 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

So I'm pretty sure a company has ripped me off for 'work' they have done on my property (I'm the landlord, we have management company who looks after the property, and tenants are currently living in the property)

I don't think the work has been carried out, yet they are insistent that it has, I've been arguing the whole thing since Friday and now arranging to meet the company who carried out the 'work' at the property so they can show me what they did.

Where do I stand if I still don't think or can tell they have done the work!?!?!

I'm SO mad ?

What work was it? Do you have any "before" and "after" photos for comparison?

It was the roof, I was quoted for approx 8 new tiles and the felt renewed under those tiles... and I'm pretty certain nothing has been done. The only thing they have done it cut the tv ariel that was there (dormant) and pushed it under a tile.

I don't have any before photos, but I do have some afters...

From a distance, the area was from the right hand window towards the next property

I am no roofing expert but I pretty sure the new tiles would show up, oh and the moss wouldnt be there in perfect postion, as though its never been disturbed. When I questioned this I was told they had used reclaimation tiles.... seriously do they think I'm stupid.

They may have used reclaimed tiles but surely would have had to have removed the moss when replacing them?

Why did you need the tiles in the first place? I.e. is there a problem that led to ordering the tiles? Is that problem still there?

I'm no roofing expert but I can't see that any of those tiles have been moved/replaced.

Even if they did they wouldnt match in so perfectly, it looks like that roof has never been touched or disturbed, surely the moss wouldnt be in the cracks/groves like that!?! Its only been a fortnight moss dosent grow that quickly, does it!?!

It doesn't look like those tiles have been moved in a long time. I would make sure that they show you the exact tiles that they replaced, ask for their purchase invoice for them, and don't let it go until you are satisfied.

I refuse to let it go, they are treating me like a silly little girl, and the management company are supposed to work for me, not sticking up for the contractor....

Really wish my Brother had filmed the work, then again you can see from a close up of the roof that nothing has been moved.

This. If they did the work and have nothing to hide then they will have no issues with this.
