Being sentimental about cars!

deedee, 30 June, 2008 at 10:39 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

We bought a new car on the weekend. We currently have a sporty car, high tax, petrol and insurance. I am upduffed so have bought a 5 door, cheaper tax, insurance, petrol etc.

Why do we both feel like we are betraying our old car! My husband cant bring himself to advertise it and is trying to find the money to keep it! No chance! We have had the car 8 years and I have promised not to sell it to boy racers!

So are we freaks?

I refused to sell my car. It was my first brand new car and I'd had it for 10 years. I loved it and it had seen some great times. We never used it, it just sat around, with the occasional drive into town. In the end H said that I needed to sell it. I was gutted!

Nah, ive had a lot fo cars but the ones I was most sorry to see go were the old bangers. Namely A renault 4 left hand drive van type car, the seats didn't match, it had CURTAINS at the windows, and was older than me. But it got me everywhere I wanted, including many trips Yorkshire to Nice in france! I refused to get it scrapped when it got poorly and sold it to a bloke who PROMISED he was interested in restoring it!

Hope your car finds a good home :-P x

    ? I wouldn't say you are freaks.

I see cars come and go on a weekly / monthly basis. My husband is a mechanic and is forever buying and selling. He laughs at my sentiment towards my little Fiesta, it's my first car ans although I need to sell it to get a bigger one soon I don't want to. To him it's just metal. But thenagain saying that he was quite an attachement to his cosworths and would hate to see any more of them go (one was stolen recently).
