Benefit cosmetics

embie, 24 May, 2008 at 11:03 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

I feel like treating myself to some new make up and like the look of Benefit (i'm a sucker for packaging!!). Is it worth the price and what are your recommendations? Think i'm going to get the Realness of Concealness kit so I can try out a few products, but what else shall i buy? Unless i have a plan i think i might be a bit like a kid in a candy store and buy everything i see ?

Thanks

Don't go to the make-up counter and have a makeover. I did (reluctantly) and felt as if I had to buy everything she used. If you can say no, then by all means have a makeover as it was lovely. I just regret spending so much as some of it has just sat in my make-up bag since.

I love my High Beam though, really perks up my rubbish skin. I also like the California Kissing lipgloss (I think that's the name). It's a blue tint that makes your teeth look whiter, and has a lovely minty smell and taste. They're the only things that stick out at the moment. Ooh, also, when I had my makeover, she used You Rebel tinted moisturiser that was gorgeous, but I didn't buy it so not sure if it's worth it. If you only by one thing though, I'd say High Beam.

I like Dandelion - stops me looking like nosferatu. You need to be careful of your skin tone with it - I think it best suits pale skin with pink undertones and definitely not ruddy faces lasses.

I love Dr Feelgood and Some kind a gorgeous, also 10 (highlighter and bronzer in one). I've got an eye kit that has three shades of eyeshadow and Boi-ing, can't remember what it's called, but that's good too. I've also got Ooh-la-lift and Lip plump which are OK (not great).

I love the Bad Gal mascara and eyeliner, fab for rock chick moments. I also love their Playsticks stick foundation, I don't like foundation as a rule but I can just dot this on where needed and blend it in for a really nice finish without feeling caked.

    Lip Plump is rubbish IMHO

But if I was going for a full makeover/makeup kit splurge, it would be MAC rather than Benefit.

    Boi-ing concealer.

Get Even pressed powder, Fab as it has a yellow tint and looks so natural and covers well.

I've got LOADs of other Benefit products but these two are the only i recommend tbh. I don't think their colour cosmetics (eye shadows and lipsticks/glosses) are much to talk about.

I just bought some Erase Paste - it's a thick and creamy concealer, and you only need a tiny bit. Getting on ok with it so far!
