Best Foundation for pale skin?? Help!!

Little fluff, 15 April, 2010 at 20:06 Posted on Planning 0 21

Hi all, as title says... i want to know what you think is the best foundation for pale skin. I want something that covers well and lasts all day but hate the thick heavy feeling you get with a lot of foundation.

I have tries YSL, Clarins & MaxFactor. Hated the YSL other 2 not bad but think could get better (hope)!!

Thanks x

I'm not very good with make up so I apologise on that front. You could go to a department store or Boots and ask someone on a cosmetics counter to help you. They could try different foundations to suit your colouring. They are usually really helpful ?

At least that way you get to feel it on your skin and see what it looks like.

A mate rates that Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud's stuff - not sure if that's any help.

I have pale skin in and i use Clinique, its very good. I used it when i was training to do beauty.

On the back of the foundation they either have an (N) or a (P)

If you have a pink undertone like if you have red hair or rosacea then the one with the (P) is designed especially for it but not many shops stock the one with the (P) but you can order it online. If you go into a boots the women on the clinique stand will try it on you and if you like the foundation order the one online for (P)

hope you find one you like...x

Definately try a couple of the MAC foundations, they will generally give you a sample pot to take away & try too. Their colours range from one extreme to the other.

I have pale and annoyingly tricky skin and have found Bobbi Brown to be fantastic. Went for a trial and they were SO helpful - use their stuff all the time now. Definitely worth speaking to them!

I found Mac to be very heavy and didnt like the feeling but just my opinion.

    Hi,

It depends how pale your skin is. But I have the lightest shade for the clinique foundations but these are sometimes too dark for some of my clients so I also have Bobbi Brown. They do some lovely foundation and have a wider colour range going to very pale.

Try bare minerals - most debenhams stores now stock they're stuff, i've been using it for a year now and would'n be without it!! They also test te foundations on you in store so you get the correct shade etc.

I love my Mac foundation. Comes in so many shades and the staff are really helpful in helping you find the exact shade you need.

My cousin is a make up artist she says ...

"Go for MAC foundations, their face and body foundation is a thin liquid, unlike say the studio sculpt foundation they do. Unlike many companies, MAC are trained artists, not just pretty faces, and they know what they are talking about. The mac store in covent garden is the best for customer service, as is the soho store where you would be able to get the face and body. Because it is quite fluid, you get lovely flawless coverage, without the heaviness. Use a primer underneath, such as GOSH primer. MAC also do shades for every skin tone in pink and yellow bases. Hope this is helpful to you, Amii"

I am very pale skinned, paler than some of my red-headed friends!!

I actually use good old Rimmel for everyday use as it gives a very natural look but for a more made up look and for special occassions I use Mac - yes it's heavier than some brands but gives such a long lasting finish - you almost look air brushed so your skin looks great in photos. And I find the staff really useful - they really make an effort to match your colour perfectly.

I'm Estee Lauder through and through and only use their products because I have pale, sensitive skin too. I've used their foundation and other products for over 20 years. I can highly recommend Double Day Wear foundation which lasts at least 12 hours without the need fo r retouching. You can get a good range of colours for paler skin and it's not too heavy either. Ask them for a sample next time you're in Boots.

I used to use Estee Lauder double wear, and it is fine for pale skin and does last all day. I started to find it a bit heavy, so switched to Laura Mercier silk creme foundation and the transulcent poweder, and it's fab!! I've got quite bad acne scarring, and it covers really well, last all day and is very natural looking.

Space nk is very good for giving lots of advice too. they stock brands like chanticalle, laura mercier etc and the staff are always really knowledgeable and don't mind you trying lots of stuff etc to get the right product for you - i've always found the department store counters a bit quick to get you served and out of there (with the exception of MAC)

I'd go with MAC as well. Don't forget to get things like a lighter concealer and some green tinted stuff for blemishes.

I'm no make up artist but I do go on photoshoots and follow the advice of this lady. Scroll through her basic tutorials for foundation tips xxx

I'm a Clinique girl - have used it for over 16 years! ?

Have a look at Dainty Doll (Nicola Roberts from GA's range) - she designed it especially for pale skin! Not heard any reports but could be worth a look.

PS - how's the diet?? I've had a bad 3 weeks (D's birthday, hen do, D being away) so stayed the same for weeks. My time has ran out now so we're just gonna do it ourselves from now. I lost about 12lbs in 8 weeks... Just got to maintain it!
