Best Man Gift

*porsche*, 17 June, 2012 at 23:07 Posted on Planning 0 14

Really struggling choosing a gift for our best man. Don't want the usual tankard, personalised cufflinks, anything tacky. Want it to be something he could keep as a momento of our day, ie. not champers etc. Maybe something work related, he is a builder. Any ideas?

In China, we always choose a gift which is useful for him in the daily life. Maybe you can check what he lack of? hehe

I don't know much about tools or how much they are, or a toolbox. You can also get magnetic photo frames to go on his toolbox.

Sorry not very inspiring Smiley smile

I know you said not cufflinks but Debenhams have a saw and hammer pair of cufflinks? We are getting them for our carpenter best man

He doesn't have a tool box as such, more a tool bag. Thanx anyway. x

Definately don't want cuff links, they will just end up in a drawer somewhere. Thanx anyway. x

I find men stupidly hard to buy for. If he's a big drinker they do clocks made out of beer and spirit bottles at bottleclocks.com (or similar). Got my OH a JD one for xmas and he loves it.

Have a look on www.gettingpersonal.co.uk, there's lots of nice things on there that you can also personalise ?

You can also get drinking glasses made from old beer bottles. They're quite different.

We got a photocanvas (photo taken by OH!) of an appropriate photo (cows in field as he's a vet and used to live around here!) Some kind of artwork might work (relatively easy to transport as well!)

I'm in the same dilemma! Men are hard to buy for! What about a day out somewhere after the wedding so the boys can get together again? Not a keepsake as such but hopefully something to remember?

We've had this issue. We thought about speciality Vodka (his favourite, but thought it wsan't very personal, really), crystal shot glasses / wine glasses - gorgeous, but again, a bit 'high-street' and ordinary...

So, we've taken to looking in local art galleries and have found some lovely stuff. So now we're spoilt for choice...we're looking at a framed picture of a meaningful place (when best man and OH used to live), or some gorgeous hand made glasses, or a handturned wooden box. Written down, all these things sounds naff but we thought they were spot on, actually. Personal, very toughtful, one of a kind (or at least not mass-produced). We found the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham to be really excellent, although clearly there are many others around.
