best man speech

My Partners son has asked me to be his best man at their wedding in june which presents a dilemma,namely how do i combine the role of best man and stepdad at the same time.i have been a part of their lives for 5 years so any advice would be extrenly welcome.

You can mention how over the last 5 years you have been proud to watch your stepson (use his first name rather than "my stepson") grow into the lovely young man he is today, refer to the wonderful job his mum did in raising him and tell a funny story (yet clean) story that will embarrass him.

A couple of witty wedding one-liners will work well before you begin talking about the Bride and Bridesmaids. Thank the Bridesmaids for all their help with the wedding, make reference to a few of the Brides qualities, mention how beautiful she looks and talk about what a great friend she has been to the Groom.

Comment on some of the Groom's qualities and discuss what a wonderful couple the Bride and Groom make before ending with an uplifting Best Man toast.

Given the situation I would keep the speech relatively short (2-3 minutes) and would ensure the speech doesn't cause offence. Best of luck with it.
