Best men!! Rant sorry!

Kate22, 22 May, 2014 at 16:09 Posted on Planning 0 6

The OH goes on his stag in 4 weeks. Hi brother and best friend are the best men and not one of them have sorted anything!! I had to find the hotels for them and then ended up booking them!

I feel so bad for my OH because his best men are crap and haven't organised anything. FMIL asked me to help her organise something for them all to do and I feel as though I've had to because otherwise oh will end up going on his stag and camping in a pub all weekend - which i know he doesn't want to do mall weekend!

I have booked the hotels, organised tshirts, fancy dress and go karting!

I'm so upset and annoyed with them, I have enough to do and have my own hen weekend in 3 weeks which my MOH and BM have been brilliant with and have organised everything.

Sorry for the rant x

Anyone else had this?

Yup, exactly the same. In defence one of the stag's that I think would have organised everything got ill and had to have an operation, but the other two bets men (H2B has 3) were rubbish and 1 even forgot, until I reminded him!! Anyway, it was last weekend and H2B had a great time, so it was worth it in the end Smiley winking Everyone had so much fun that it is going be annual event Smiley winking haha

To be honest I think it's more the norm that brides and grooms end up organising their own hen adn stag do's. Often Best Men, MoHs live away, are younger family memebrs etc, and the stag/hen party can have such a broad mix of characters that there's only the bride/groom that knows everyone or has the wherewithall to make the arrangements.

Gone are the days when the stag/hen do is just the bride/stag's mates, similarly, gone are the days when the stag/hen do was the night before the wedding in the local town!

    This!

I've done a lot of organising of my own things although one bridesmaid has been a great help. OH has arranged his stag do by himself. My brother is best man and had a very small wedding and had no stag night or anything, my BM is his wife and other is a school friend who hasn't been to many weddings and isn't married herself. I think people don't really know they're "supposed" to do the organising and aren't really sure of what their duties are meant to be etc.

I'm completely fine with us doing our own and don't think they're being lazy or not caring etc, just not used to doing these things.

To be fair Mr Erin's friends organised and paid for all of his. All he had to do was show up. He had a great time in Liverpool for the weekend.

In contrast l had to organise all of my hen do myself, all l got was people moaning and not paying their share. Then a few dropped out at the last minute. I am annoyed and resentful.

I had the opposite problem in a way. Best Man booked the stag holiday (abroad) without consulting with OH or I - he booked it over a long weekend where we had already arranged a trip away as a family. It was also over a working day for me (we have very young children and each care for them while the other works).

Thankfully it's all over and done with now!

I wouldn't like to be arranging my OHs stag do for him either though! As you said, you have enough on your plate planning a wedding.
