best way to store dress???

ChannyPink, 2 June, 2013 at 21:33 Posted on Planning 0 4

I'm having a serious dilehma with my dress, may sound silly but I have no where to keep it, I bought it on impulse very early (15 months to go) and just have no where to store it, it is currently hung up in front on my wardrobe in a large bag, whats best way to keep it safe and neat for all that time?

I haven't bought my dress yet but I know some places recommend storing them in boxes with acid-free tissue paper. Away from direct sunlight, damp, moths etc! I think you might have to have it pressed nearer the time unless you're very lucky and it doesn't get creased!

I brought mine home December last year for a July this year wedding - I'm storing it in my mums spare bedroom. Its hanging up in a double duvet cover, just pop it up at the top by the hanger so it sits spread out in there. I would have never thought to do this but my mum and nan both did it with their dresses so they just did it once I'd dropped it off there and it seems to be fine, no creases

I bought my dress 2 months ago for July next year (I know, way too organised!! :/) it will be delivered to the shop in oct/nov time.

The lady who works in the shop has told me to put it in a duvet cover and pop it in a suitcase so it's dust free and away from the light then ill be taking it back a few days before the big day to be steamed and crease free Smiley smile

so basically, just away from direct sunlight, dust free and in a box or suitcase of some type maybe.

I kept my wedding dress hanging at my parents house for 4 months before my wedding - high up, in front of a wardrobe - so it didn't touch the floor, with a big bed sheet over it to protect it from the dust.

It didn't need steaming or anything before the wedding as i'd kept it hanging straight up! I had it in a bag at first, but took it out as I thought it would crease. Hanging loose with a sheet completely covering it was fine for my dress.
