I got married on 3rd July so it's about time I posted my report!
Brief History
We met on a dating site of all places! I'd been on my own for nearly 3 years and he'd been on his own for about the time amount of time. We chatted for a while before actually meeting but then had out first date on 12th November 2013. I remember being very nervous as it was my first date since meeting my ex-husband back in 1994! He was exactly the same. But the nerves soon went and we chatted non-stop for about 3 hours, and then arranged the second date. We were inseparable after that!
Things were going perfectly until he became ill at the end of last summer. He was a postman and was really struggling to do his job as he was exhausted all the time (he'd previously been extremely fit and healthy). Anyway, one day he just couldn't carry on. I persuaded him to go to my doctors as his had just told him to "get a few early nights". Good thing he listened to me as the doctor he saw immediately detected severe heart problems and called an ambulance for him. He was taken to hospital and diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, which had been caused by an infection which attacked his heart (they think). He spent two weeks in hospital and it was just awful seeing him there and suffering. But he recovered over time (and with the help of all the medication he's now on), although he couldn't go back to doing such a physical job.
The Proposal
It was Christmas Eve 2014. I was working until lunchtime that day, but after work he suggested we go for a walk down the beach as it was such a lovely sunny day. We often go for walks down the beach, so this didn't surprise me. What did surprise me was him stopping me by the lighthouse, going down on one knee and producing an engagement ring and asking me to marry him! I immediately said yes, threw my arms around him and kissed him.
Our family and friends were so pleased for us and it was a very special Christmas.
