Birmingham meet - 10th May

spacecadet_99, 21 April, 2008 at 09:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 22

Thought I'd start a new thread as the old one was getting a bit lengthy. The majority opinion was 10th May, and that gives us a bit longer to think about it, so we'll go for that date. My thinking was that we could meet mid afternoon on the Saturday, say 3-4pm to accommodate those with children etc who may want to come for a little while. What we could do with is a nice bar with seating outside in case the weather is nice enough so probably somewhere in Brindleyplace - am open to suggestions.

I'm still up for the 10th but I'd prefer to do a ? thing later in the evening. Is that the plan? To carry on later in the day or is it just a mid-afternoon tea and children type thing? In which case, isn't this bordering on BT rather than OT? ?

I'm a little scared. Don't think i've ever spent time with that many women that i've never met before!

If it's Tea and kids I'll probably skip it (no offence ladies - i don't have my boy that weekend so i'd really be a spare wheel). If it's beer and pubs later on i might make an appearance.

Erm if it's a tea and kids thing I might give it a miss too! No I just thought as a few people with kids are coming that starting around 4ish would mean they could come for a bit, bring kids if necessary and then whoever wants to can carry on for the evening. I'm not planning on booking/organising anything after the first bar as I think that could become complicated - we can just find somewhere to drink that also serves food I suppose. could start later if no one is up for the earlier start though? Don't want us all to peak too soon!

Oh and swampy - yes I will (if I get myself into the boat of having to organise again, as you can tell it ain't coming naturally ?) - you're definitely on my 'hitchers I'd like to meet' list ?

    Ditto ?
I was thinking more evening and booze rather than afternoon and kids.

I was hoping not to have my children around me? Bars and alcohol in the evening sounds good.

    Course you can ?

I'm glad this is getting off the ground properly, I was a bit nervous about trying to organise it to be honest but it seems like plenty of people are keen, hooray!

Looks like there is quite a few going now!

As for possible locations, there is the Slug and Lettuce in Brindley Place, which (I think) has an outside seating area. Just a suggestion...

You're scared?! I'm supposed to be organising the thing! Do you think I need to set up some sort of email list now? This doesn't seem like the best way to communicate because I'm not sure everyone is seeing it.
