Bit the bullet - updated very flash heavy sorry - still unsure :(

Holly-Jayne, 10 October, 2011 at 13:24 Posted on Planning 0 41

After buying my dress second hand last year I have since been having doubts about it and not having tried enough on etc etc and have also fallen for another dress online. So I bit the bullet and found a stockist for this other dress and have paid for them to get it in their store and also for appointment to try on plenty of others and already I feel so much happier just knowing that I can re explore the other options now - so tomorrow at 2pm I will be trying on lots of pretty dresses and hopefully it will help me to make a decision. Yay Smiley smile

UPDATED **** - So here are the pics of me in my original dress

and the back

And after having wobbles about it went to try on other dresses and fell for another two! I am officially my own worst enemy lol!

Pictures are below - still haven't made my mind up so honest opinions very welcome/encouraged please ? (my mum thinks we should go to another dress shop next week just to help me see if i can find something i love more or to make me realise how much i love one of these - probably a good idea)

Both are maggie dresses, first is isadora marie:

So lovelies - what do you think? xxx

Hey missrae, ah I know we all get wobbles about our dresses but mostly everyone falls back in love with it once they get to try it on again, problem for me was when I tried my dress on I loved it but not in love with it anymore so I'm doing this to be sure really I guess. I hope tomorrow when you get yours you will all in love all over again Smiley smile x

Hi Holly it was a good one actually! Loads of cake to try, If I'd not ordered mine I could have been tempted by a couple of suppliers there! There was one photographer seemed really good but I'm hanging on to booking anything until I've been to my wedding venues wedding fayre at Olddown next weekend - is that near you too? Was nice to meet Sherrie she is going to give me a quote for flowers and a fresh flower place is going to give me a quote too so I can compare :-) The fashion show was excellent had all the Alfred Angelo Disney dresses for the finale - the Cinderella dress is WOW WOW WOW and the snow white one really sweet, lovely to see them all anyway!

In my opinion I think the second one looks the nicest and you look lovely in it. Trouble is, there are probably a few different dresses that you would look and feel gorgeous in, so you really have to go by how it makes you feel ?

Whatever you choose will be fab anyway!

Personally i like the first dress, i think it is soft and flowy, the others to me are harsher 0sorry not making my self clear) but its how the dress makes you feel that is important - perhaps if they all make you feel gorgeous they might not b right dress, the WOW one may still be out there.......?

    Sorry not very helpful lol

    Oooh I'm not sure!

I think I prefer the second one, but don't ask me why because I've no idea. I just think it looks the nicest!

I actually don't like that first Maggie one and I don't think it flatters you well - it's a very acute in/out at the waist that looks slightly angular and the sweetheart neckline is too deep (you look better with the straighter lines of the first and thrid). Your original is very flattering around your waist/hips. My fave of them all is the last one though.

I think the shape of the third dress is gorgeous on you but there is too much going on with all the motifs, less is more. It is more elegant than the first, which is quite girly. I think the second is too old for you, and quite old fashioned in a way.

I think you might be right and its what my mum has been saying too that if I am not stunned by a particular dress its not "the one" but i just thought maybe not everyone gets that if you know what I mean xx

Thanks for all your help ladies - I love the first maggie as its so princessy, but yet the second maggie makes me feel very elegant and gives me a completely different shape that I didnt know existed ? - aggggghhhhhh must not tear my hair out ☹️

maybe I should pop to the next shop or am I going to confuse myself further?

Oh god not a bargain for me :-( I originally was gunna get a cheapy dress from china but now have decided to get a proper dress as we've upped our budget so much on the venue, BUT have promised myself that it will be a sale or second hand dress or absolute bargain and no more that 700 quid - I've got to be a bit sensible :-( Darn that looked lovely! maybe it'll be half price in january ;-)

My favourite on you is your original dress, I think its beautiful. Second place would be Geneva.

Totally honestly, I prefer the Geneva... it suits you and you look as if you are standing more happily/confidently in it. I always prefer more 'streamlined' dresses than the ones which come flaring out from the waist, so it may be just my own preference speaking. The Geneva I personally think is far more flattering to your figure (though that's not saying the others don't!)

I think the third one suits your figure the best, it looks like it skims your waist and hips and really shows off the hourglass figure you have. The second one I think is too high on the waist so has a bit of a sticky out, angled bit. The first one (your original one) is also pretty and suits your figure as the skirt is lower and the bodice longer than the second so you get a smoother line. Purely on looks I'd go with number three.

My favourite is the first one but thats purely because I'm noy keen on lace.

I know what you mean about having doubts; I bought my first dress (luckily off ebay) but when it arrived I hated it so I'm on the look out for a new one now.
