Bit worried at TOGs lack of response - overreacting?

SpottieDottie, 19 April, 2012 at 13:08 Posted on Planning 0 6

I sent a bank transfer to our photographer over a week ago to cover the deposit required to book them and also put the booking form in the post. I then sent an email to the photographer to confirm that I'd sent a bank transfer and posted the booking form that day but haven't even had a response or any acknowledgement.

Should I be worried or am I overreacting? Think I'm a bit concerned as when I was getting details from the photographer they went very quiet for a couple of weeks until chased up when they realised that we're getting married about 70 miles from their home town (even though all their literature says they're happy to travel).

I don't want to annoy the photographer by chasing them up too soon but it's making me think they're unreliable - if someone had put a few hundred pounds in my account I'd acknowledge it immediately. I'm tempted to email them to ask them to confirm receipt of the deposit money / booking form as I'm a bit concerned I've not had an acknowledgement and to check they're still happy to do our date / venue and if not ask for a refund.

What do you think?

No harm in mailing again. It's a lot of money and a big part of wedding so you're right to expect acknowledgment!

    Hi SpottieDottie (great name btw!)

I'd definitely chase them up - did they say that they'd send a signed copy of the contract back to you, or a confirmation letter? It may be worth giving them a call in case they haven't received your emails.

I booked my TOG with over a year to go and she immediately confirmed the deposit via email, so yes I would be chasing.

I always get a bit stacked up, after a school holiday... It may just be that they're a bit behind... Don't email again, just give them a quick call...

Personally I think a week isn't great, you need to reply on your photographer and simple things like turning up to appointments on time show a great deal. On the other hand it could be an honest mistake so I would ring him first before getting worried.

Best of luck, let us know how it goes!
