blinds anyone?

sparklejunkie, 27 January, 2009 at 10:12 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

Hello,

I'm looking into getting blinds for my new house and have seen pleated blinds by Faber and by Luxaflex (think the Luxaflex ones are called Plisse). Does anyone have any experience of either type and/or any recommendations, please?

We have vertical blinds in the lounge and metal horizontal blinds in the kitchen and they are fab. We used Hilarys blinds.

    Thanks SophieM.

Thanks Dangermouse as well - I shall google Hilarys blinds and see what they've got. How do you find the metal blinds? My husband is a bit worried they might feel a bit too 'officey' and harsh.

If you get someone from Hillary's to come out to quote, never accept the first price they give you. You should be able to haggle them down a fair bit. They regularly have flyers in magazines and online offers anyway. A friend managed to get a £740 quote for 3 blinds down to under £500 without too much trouble.

I've got fabulous roman shades in my living room. They lift from the bottom or drop from the top. i.e you can have the bottom half of the window exposed or you can have the top half. It's brilliant for our flat because we're ground floor and quite close to the pavement so we can get natural light in to the room and still have privacy. I got them in America though but I think Hilary's might do them - they just didn't do my area!!!

I got a great deal from web-blinds about this time last year. I've been really happy with them (Roman blinds they are)

By metal I mean they are aluminium and they came in a variety of colours. We have spring fern, a green colour.
