The Flump Who Stole Christmas

Blini inspiration

The Flump Who Stole Christmas, 28 December, 2008 at 17:12 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I have 32 of the buggers to think of toppings for - I've got the cream cheese and smoked trout option covered off, and I also bought a jar of "caviar" from Lidl which I can either put on the trout, or just with cream cheese on its own (??). I also have a jar of tapenade, but I think it will be rather dull on its own.

Any other fabulous ideas please?

All mine this year were with smoked salmon (as I bought too much!) so we had:

    • Smoked salmon & scrambled egg
    • Smoked salmon with creme fraiche & horseradish
    • Smoked salmon with creme fraiche & lemon

Something mushroomy, such as pate? Everything else I can think of is more cheese (goats) or fish (salmon, crab).

Do you want them all savoury, or could you do some sweet ones - such as cream & summer fruit?

We had Lidl 'Caviar' on blinis on Christmas day (and boxing day breakfast) we served the caviar on sour cream mixed with Vodka and dill, it was yummy!

Ooh loving the artichoke with tapenade idea, thanks RBH! I would do paté but I'm worried it will dry out round the edges too quickly. Hmmm, will ponder your ideas some more - thanks all ?

At a pink party recently, we had fried chorizo, red pepper tapinade, prawns and smoked salmon. Everything was on top of cream cheese but I quite like sour cream/creme fraiche too.

Anything but the vile ikea fishy eggy thingy, it is vile vile vile! ?
