BM Dresses - In a Pickle, Thoughts Pls *Flashes*

HAG13, 31 January, 2013 at 15:21 Posted on Planning 0 16

I have been looking at BM dresses for what seems like forever! I have 2 BMs, my sister and my BF who lives in Oz. In looking at getting the dresses off the High St, firstly because they are a little cheaper, and secondly, to I can pre-send my BM her dress to Oz to make sure she likes it and it fits, and if not I still have time to return and retry. It seemed logical at the time. One BM is 5ft 2, the other is 5ft 7, the taller one has a worry about towering over the other. One has a preference for long dresses, the full BM experience and so can't be passed off as a normal wedding dress, and the other isn't too fussed but likes one of the short dresses. With longer dress, shoes don't matter too much but with shorter they'll obviously be on display. I've just reached the point of I really don't know what to do!!! So what on earth would you do?? Here are the choices, the first two have been tried on and I'm deliberating ordering the other one but its twice the price of the other too and I'm starting to get a little budget thrifty.

Help! Someone please!

Yes the first one is especially stunning!

Also will prob make your taller BM feel more comfortable if she can wear flats.

I really like the first one. Also, as somone else said, this will mean that the taller one could maybe wear flats or small heels to make her less self-conscious about her height. Also with a big height difference full length might make them look more matching, in pictures short dresses could fall at really different heights (if that makes sense).

Saying this I have short bridesmaid dresses so haven't followed my own advice at all!

I am having my BM in different dresses. 2 are much taller than the other 1 and I don't want them to feel that it is noticeable. You could have them both in long, one in flats one in high heels.

There from Debenhams, Monsoon, and Coast in that order.

I like the idea of having different lengths/different dresses but with just 2 BMs, I worry that it might look odd. Number 1 is quite see-through so would need a petticoat (haha!) for it

My vote would go for the first one. Save the money from the third one and think of what else you could use it for e.g. hair on the day for you and the girls instead. You'll still get the same elegant feel.

This is definitely what I was thinking! For £90, that's hair and make up!

I still can't decide!!! The third one is out for sure. I look at the pic of #2 and I can't help being drawn to her knees! My sister prefers this one but as her other half said, the first one is much more as he called it 'now' and a BM dress. Urgh! I've just got to make a decision!!

My four bridesmaids are having four different dresses all in the same colour but I have insisted they all have knee or tea length and no straps on show.

That being the case, I'm sure you won't be surprised to know I like number two the most.

I'd get a long dress then you can get the shorter BM to wear heels and the taller one to wear kitten heels or flats so she won't have to worry about towering over like u mentioned and nobody will really notice the difference Smiley smile xx

    Dress 1

Pro - long so need not to worry about shoes/heel height

Pro - looks like a 'traditional' BM dress

Con - it will need altering on at least one of my BMs not just length but taking in around the hips, size smaller doesnt fit the bust

Con - That thing on the front just flaps around a bit. I wouldn't be suprised if it ended up somewhere it shouldn't like in a door or worse a toilet

Con - Need a slip underneath as it is a tad sheer

    Dress 2

Pro - don't need to worry about length

Pro - its fits my one different shaped BM fine as it is

Pro - it is pretty and OH likes it

Pro - i can add bits, belt and brooch to make it more BM like and different

Con - i will seriously have to take the girls shoe shopping, with one in Oz, can I leave this til the last minute?? what do I do?

Con - it is a dress that someone, anyone, could turn up to a wedding in

Con - my one BM preferred long

    Can I toss a coin??
