Bolero/Cover up..or not?!

Loulou10, 1 June, 2013 at 19:21 Posted on Planning 0 4

Ladies, im looking for some advice please, i get married in August. i have my dress which has spaghetti straps and ive had silk overlay over these to make them into very slight cap sleeves and im happy with the result of this. however, i have some slight scarring from rosacea on one of my shoulders and this was the reason i had the cap sleeves fitted. im still very conscious of it and although its not really bad im wondering whether to contact the bridal shop about having a bolero in lace for over the top which i hasten to add will cover the tops of my arms...which i hate. anyone else had similar? thank you

What about concealing make-up to cover the rosacea? Some hitchers have used this to cover tattoos & might be able to recommend a brand.

If you go with the bolero option, it can actually make the arms look fatter, depending on how long the sleeve is. If the sleeve is only small & stops mid-upper arm, this can be the fattest part of the upper arm & the eye stops there & looks at the width of the arm. If you get longer sleeves that go to the elbow, the eye follows the sleeve to were it stops at the thinner part of the arm- the elbow, and gives the illusion of a thinner arm.

I'd either keep what you have, maybe use make-up, or if you go for a jacket, make sure it finishes at the elbow & isnt too tight on the arm.

I have badly scarred shoulders and sm still having steroid treatment to reduce them. So I know where you are coming from. I chose my wedding dress as it covered my shoulders enough.

ive been recommend to use the Red Cross changing faces service. They can give you fab camouflage make up to hide it all. They have centres in most large towns.

Thanks ladies for your replies, theyre most helpful. i only have one shoulder that is affected and hoped the cream i was using would fade it, however it doesnt seem like thats working. im having a spray tan so that may or may not help. im slightly worried about using make up as it may come off but i will try it nevertheless. i may still get a bolero as im having an outdoor wedding so may get chilly come later on, especially if this weather doesnt change!! thanks again x

Thanks for your reassurance, i will definitely look at this. it is very mild scarring but its quite recent so its a reddish colour which is what makes it noticeable unfortunately. hopefully things will work out x
