Boring but - Dyson or not?

EmsieS, 18 May, 2008 at 12:27 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

I know it's a dull question but my Dyson of 7 years has just died and I am about to replace it. Are Dysons still the best? I have two dogs so need something strong enough for pet hair as well as general stuff. What would people recommend and where is cheap/reliable to buy online?

Many thanks.

I really like Dysons but they don't seem to last long ☹️ . I still haven't found another make with as much 'suck'.

We bought a Miele vacuum cleaner on Hitched recommendation.

It's fab, knocks the socks off the Dyson for sucking power.

We got the cheaper one in the range for about £140. They have a "cat & dog" one which is more powerful for about £190. I've just had a look at Dyson prices, and the Miele are cheaper.

We had the Dyson cat and dog which lasted about 2 years, recently bought the miele cat and dog and it knocks spots off the dyson.

Sorry to jump on your thread but or Dyson is on its last legs too so very interested in this thread.

Are the Miele ones bagless or not? Where do you buy them from? Thanks

We were recommended the Sebo at John Lewis, and have to say it was far better than the Dyson. Can't comment on the Miele, but after asking them at JL, they said the Sebo was far better than the Miele range

I don't know about Miele, but I've just bought a Dyson and it has a 5 year guarantee, which I thought was great.

I've just taken my 'Hoover' vacumn to the tip, its the worst one I've ever owned

Another vote for the Miele vacuum.

We did have the dyson animnal but after some hitched recommendations we went for the pet Miele and it definitly knocks socks off the dyson. I was really surprised at the difference and also felt very dirty the first time we used it!

We bought a miele cat/dog on recommendation of hitched and some rl people - it is utterly fab and seems better than my mum and sisters dysons. The first time my H vacuumed his exact words were 'do you think it's possible to actually LOVE cleaning now?!'
