Boudoir shoot

Allgold78, 13 June, 2011 at 21:52 Posted on Planning 0 12

Ok, so money's getting..... no, scrap that, GOT.... tight. I really wanted to do a boudoir shoot for the hubby as his wedding gift but looking at FYEO their prices are really steep. Or are they? Am I just being tight - should I expect to pay that for a good shoot?

So next question, if they are really pricey can you recommend someone who does a really good job and doesn't break the bank. Before I embarrass myself contacting people I really can only stretch to a couple of hundred, if that! ?

Is it back to the drawing board???

I found a voucher for mine through Groupon! I paid £170 in total which got me the shoot, 17 edited images on CD and five 5x7" printed images altogether. (It was Boudoir by Cameo if you're interested.)

Look to local photographers, see if they will shoot boudoir photography, some might, you may be able to organise a deal if they havent shot many but want to get in to that sort of thing.

all you really need is a photographer, nice hotel room maybe, makeup and outfits

Def have a look locally, don't just google boudoir. I don't charge as much as FYEO but I don't have a massive studio and huge costs like they do. A few tog friends of mine do boudoir shoots too and the price ranges from £120-£200 depending on make-up artists prices and extra prints. You could find a local tog and do your own hair & make-up (or pop to the hairdressers beforehand) that will save you a lot ?

I got mine for £50 at the National Wedding Show last year. I'm sure they do good deals on line though. Or maybe I'll be charged extra if I have more pictures framed.

Sorry not a very helpful post!

Hiya, FYEO are ok but although they reel you in with mega cheap shoots, the products are incredibly expensive! I went to https://www.myboudoir.co.uk/

The photos were better then FYEO IMO and Nicola was WAYYYY cheaper, I had a make-over, shoot and a gorgeous album of my piccies, I paid about £400 but she has shoots from £195 so worth a look? She's really a very talented photographer and made me look totally amazing - which was rather difficult as I am the worst person in the world to photograph and am so shy!

So looked for local ones and emailed them asking if they were doing any deals.... found one... £19 included hair/ make up and one framed pic! have to pay extra for extra prints! i have had the shoot, go on thursdays to have a look at pics!

Anyways might be worth asking... on the website of the place i went to the package was £199! so quite a saving!

It is definitely worth shopping around a bit for these - groupon do brilliant offers you just have to wait and then nabb them!

I have booked through a London agency and is costing about £170 (www.londonboudoir.co.uk) but since I booked loads of offers and deals have come up for £99 etc!

One offer even came through for FYEO for £39!

I wanted to do a boudoir shoot as a wedding present but never got round to it.

Think I might do it for our first anniversary. Just looked at the before and after pictures in the myboudoir website...if she can work those miracles on them. There may be hope for me yet lol

FYEO are expensive and their images always end up looking the same (they're a franchise right?)

Whilst I charge about the same, the clients get many more images and a £200 boutique hotel to shoot in.

Rather than a studio with the same old furniture same lighting same over photoshopped soft images etc.

They aren't doing that great either as they paid the Daily Mail to do a 'feature' on them when really it was an advert.

The best way to do it is to find a local tog with experience in boudoir photography, even your wedding tog and get a hotel room. Nervous? Bring a friend.

A decent tog will be able to put you at ease and dispell your fears.
