Boudoir shoot help...

MrsDecemberBride, 24 November, 2014 at 15:07 Posted on Planning 0 5

I wondered if anyone could advise...

Ive been considering a boudoir shoot for a while as a gift to h2b but been really nervous and didn't want to spend loads of money. Found a fab offer and photographer can fit me in and get prints in time for the wedding (next month) but I wanted to speak to anyone who has done one of these.... Would you recommend doing this?? what outfit choices did you take? Did you feel confident during the shoot? & are you/h2b happy with the outcome?!

Yes, highly recommend it, I got one done with my work bonus this year (and I had a voucher from living social). My OH loves the photos, it took us a while to whittle the options down to get them in the album, but i'm glad he came with me at that point as he got to see all of the photos taken.

With me I took a nice dress, a couple of pairs of heels and various bits of nice lingerie and stockings, think it worked out 4 changes, should have been 3, but managed 4. Started off int he dress and went from there. You soon relax, and I would happily do it again. I also got my hair and make-up done there too, it made all the difference.

It is such a confidence boost, go for it, you wont regret it.

I had a shortened version done as a valentines gift this year, which then gave me the confidence to know that a) I would be happy doing a full shoot for the wedding and b) that H2B would like it, so it wouldn't be a waste of money!

I know some people think they are tacky or whatever, but for me it was fun, liberating, confidence building, and all things positive, and H2B loved it - he was gobsmacked when he opened his picture, so I had no hesitation in booking a full session with the same photographer, and I am very much looking forward to it.

I love corsetry, so will have some of that with me, with stockings and heels, but also things like"big black pants" and one of H2B's shirts....simple but sexy with the right number of buttons undone. It doesn't need to be OTT sexy lingerie, or expensive....just have a think about what you feel good in, and what H2B likes to see you in, and go from there. Take a few bits and pieces, and your photographer will soon get the best out of you. They will work wonders with lighting and poses that get any less than perfect bits hidden.

Have a look on pinterest at boudoir photos, and you will get loads of ideas. Also, if your photographer has a website you can get onto, have a look at photo's he/she has already done and see what works for you.

You'll most likely love it, the time will fly and you will wish you had another couple of hours there.....I'm really looking forward to mine in a few months, and can't wait to give the album to H2B the night before the wedding, just as we go our separate ways!

My cousin is doing mine! He's a photographer and my hairdresser so I'll happily get my kit off and I trust his judgement.

    Were trying;

    his shirt (he likes that!)

cowboy boots, knickers and hair (I have lots!)

wedding shoes and veil (from the back)

i am doing 34,000 squats a day in preparation. ?

Hugely recommend it - although I'm reasonably confident in my own skin, I hate photographs of myself usually, so it was a challenge but a fun one!

I took a few bits and bobs:

3 different lingerie sets (ivory wedding set, red, black)*

Wedding veil, fur and shoes. Oh and pearls!

2 other pairs of heels, black and red to match lingerie*

A shirt and tie of his

    Corset

A flag! (It's a bit of an in joke about my Welsh patriotism, and I ended up wearing just that and nothing else at one point!)

    Top tips:

Take the underwear that makes you feel best and/or you know always makes your OH's eyes light up. It will just make you feel good to start with. *I chose matching sets because that's just more me (OCD head!) but there's no reason why you can't mismatch if that's what you'd do normally.

Remember that the photographer is there to make you look good - that's their job - so go with their posing suggestions. That said, feel free to suggest ideas (I did by bringing the flag!) and telling them if you prefer a playful mood to full out raunchy.

And DON'T stress about your body shape - I'm not a model of either sort, thin or curvy, and of course despite my blithe comment above about confidence there are bits of me I don't like, but the boudoir photographers are expert and will help you minimise them so all you'll get is pictures you (and he!) will love. Don't feel you have to "get in shape" for the pics unless you want to, and whatever you do don't crash diet - your skin will reflect that and you won't get the gorgeous relaxed and dewy look you're after.

Good luck with it and have an absolute blast!

I've had two now. The first one I had a 2 hour shoot and about 7 outfit changes (6 different underwear sets and a football shirt). The second one a professional did my hair and make-up and the shoot itself was only about 20 minutes with 3 outfit changes (all underwear sets). I enjoyed both and love the photos from both. The first one was the more enjoyable shoot of the two (second one felt a bit rushed) but the photos from the second are better.

I don't know how much Hitched would appreciate a flash 😃 so here's a couple of shots, one from each shoot, that have been cropped to just be facial shots.
