Boudoir Shoot- should I do it?

smokesignal, 6 June, 2014 at 18:07 Posted on Planning 0 14

Hi everyone, so I entered one of the hitched competitions to win a boudoir shoot, just for fun really and I didn't think I'd get it....
However, I got a runner-up prize, which means I get a free shoot and one photo. Problem is, I've recently asked OH what his thoughts are on boudoir shoots, and he wasn't very positive, also I'm pretty ... inexperienced (well, completely :L ) so am not sure if it would be a fun, empowering experience, or just awkward and weird :L Does anyone have any helpful advice? Not sure whether or not to do it and I have to let them know by the end of next week.
tia!

I think everyone that entered got told they were a runner up, I got an email too. I looked at the package on the website and it said I'd get one image sent by email. I think they are giving the package away for free in the hope people would pay extra for prints ( I think make up is extra too). I'm not going to bother with it as my nearest place is an hour away. I'd have been happy to travel there if I'd won the main prize, but don't think it's worth it for one digital print.

    I got one too!

Not sure it's worth the time and effort unless you're prepared to pay for the extra pics...

I just got the photos from mine and without a doubt I would say go for it, BUT, if you think your h2b won't really be excited by them, then just take the free print x

I didn't get one Smiley sad Smiley sad I want to do one though - and I think I will - if it's done tastefully you can have it printed at boots and frame it and he can display it - unless you want to go all out in which case maybe not!!

    Hello!

i got the 'runner up prize' too, but I noticed you only have to go on the companies website and register to 'win' that same £99 package.

I'm not going to bother, you have to pay a £10 booking fee, plus I'd have to travel to one of the 3/4 locations, so that would cost, and you only get the one pic, each pic thereafter is approx £75 I believe, so not like extra pics are really affordable. I spoke to a friend about it who said it'd not me much more expensive (if at all) to go to a local photographer who offers boudoir shoots.

    I got the email too.

I really wanted to do one, but can't justify the travelling costs and £10 booking fee.

Regardless of cost, if you wanted to do it as a gift for your H2B and you don't think he would like it, it's a waste of time. I mentioned them in passing to mine a few weeks ago when the subject came up on here and he said he thought they were "awful and tacky", so yeah, that was that idea out the window! But if you just wanna do it as a fun day out and a gift to yourself, so to speak, then go for it.

Snap. Guessed when I got the mail that this would probably be one of those where everyone got one ( or nearly everyone ). I also went on the website and saw that you could get this anyway just by going on there. Same as with others , at least an hour away for me to nearest one so won't be taking them up on the offer. I'm not very good at saying no and I'd probably end up spending money that I didn't want to :-) Lol.

    I got the email too!
I won't be going either (I don't know why I entered it to be honest!). It's the one competition I probably didn't want to win!!

I also got the runner up e-mail.

I'm probably not going to bother. I've done two boudoir shoots in the past and have two fabulous albums and a couple of gorgeous prints. I see no point in traveling to Manchester to get one digital print.

I did find it fun and empowering so if it's not too far for you to travel and you like the idea, I say go for it.

I brought the £600 shoot with them last year and did it in march at 34 weeks pregnant and loved every second, My OH was unsure but he loves the pictures even if I do look like a whale in them. They are amazing for boosting self confidence and I'm doing it again. I was sh!t scared when I first arrived but once I got into it I loved every second.

We have a company around here that gives runner up prizes, a few clients have come to us stating they got extra prints for as much as £100 each and they paid it as well but the photos in my opinion weren't that great.

When handled appropriately, they are fantastic IF you choose the right boudoir tog.....

Bruce is one of the few who IMHO gets it right.......

Thanks Peter, you are making me blush?? I feel funny when people compliment me? like today's couple, I showed them a few images from the back of the camera and while the bride started to cry (with joy?) the groom would not stop saying how fantastic the photos were and how great I was at capturing a perfect image, I didn't know what to say but asked him to stop?? I was embarrassed?
