Bouquet alternatives?

cattyjess, 5 November, 2016 at 00:52 Posted on Planning 0 8

I'm trying to work out what to hold in my hands for my wedding. I'm getting married in a lovely Georgian hotel and so our theme is linking into this (vintage books on centrepieces etc).

I really don't want flowers - fake or real, as I've never really been a fan of them. I'm not opposed to origami/paper flowers though.I am trying to work out some alternatives. I don't want to spend loads of money on a brooch bouquet either.

So does anyone have any ideas as alternative bouquets? Or any suggestions/links on any DIY paper flowers?

Thanks in advance.

    I saw a thing on FB today called book-ques which looked amazing! Your fave book made up with some paper flowers, I'll see if I can find a link.

    I'm sure I have seen on Pinterest bouquets made from book pages. or brooch bouquets seem to be a new trend too.

    Hi, how about bowquets? I had one at my civil ceremony and then the BMs carried them at the legal ceremony. Mine were made by Ditsy Brides but I think that they may have changed their name, this link should take you the right way for queries;

    Here are mine;

    There are loads of tutorials for making your own paper flowers and you could make them from old book pages to fit in with your theme http://www.itsalwaysautumn.com/2014/07/16/20-pretty-diy-paper-flower-tutorials.html

    They don't have to be expensive and you can make your own with the idea being that you use heir looms and get the rest of the family to donate items or just to lend some for the day

    I'm doing a paper bouquet for myself. I bought a copy of Lord Of The Rings (my most favourite book) for £3 on Amazon and I found a tutorial for the flowers online. When the bridesmaid dresses get taken up (they're going to need taking up a lot) I'm getting the offcuts to make into silk flowers to make it a bit more colourful.

    I'm doing brooch bouquets for the girls. They've been searching ebay and we have about 50 brooches so far - I think we've spent about £20 so far. I'm going to buy some slightly more expensive ones to pad the bouquets out but they're going to be quite small anyway so we are nearly done. I'm threading wire through them and keeping them tight so they're small and dainty. I've seen online what I want and I'm confident it won't take long to do.

    Long story short - it seems easy to do and I'm spending between £50 and £100 overall. The paper roses were here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TUyiJC3jkg and there's loads of other tutrials that I've checked out on that link.

    I don't know how you'd feel about button bouquets but I know someone who had them and they looked lovely. I thought they were a great alternative. Here's a picture from Pinterest:

    I've also found an website for various diy flowers. It's called:

    My best friend had origami bouquets :

    But do you really need to have anything? TBH I don't think you necessarily have to hold anything if you can't find something you love - you'll find your BM ends up holding for most of the ceremony!
