Bouquets

sharnem, 5 August, 2013 at 21:24 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi all Smiley smile

I have gone through stages looking at at, wanting and dismissing certain types of unique bouquets as such as brooch (too expensive) button (Ok, but not exactly what i was looking for) and fabric and button which is something i really want but i could only justify renting on or getting a small one. Howvever I have now found a perfect one on etsy which is made out of paper and organza stuff which fits in with our book theme so it will fit in.

I was just wondering whether any of you have made your own paper bouqets? is it easy as this is something i might do if i cannot find the right stockist or know any uk stockists? I havent got or looked at dresses yet however i want something lacy and no too out there

thanks in advance

i have vintage sheet music from the 1920s i could use or i was thinking classic novels and instead of just the white organza stuff incorporating a green which is our colour

I love the paper bouquets Smiley smile

Have you got a scrap shed near you (I don't know the official name) but you pay a set amount for a bag/basket and you can fill it with lots of different craft bits. Businesses tend to donate things to them.

You'd probably be able to get some different bits of paper and materials to play about with. Even if you buy better quality stuff for your final bouquet it will be a cheap way of trying out different ideas and styles.

Hi Sharnem, I found the following tutorial which Im going to follow - http://www.fancypantsweddings.com/how-to-design-a-brooch-bouquet/

I found the organza flower tutorial at http://www.pompomemporium.com/content/how-make-fabric-flowers-organza and it looks so simple, cant wait to get the fabric and give it a go.

The reason im making the brooch bouquet is to include some of my Grandma's old jewellery Smiley smile xx

I considered it for a while, but ultimately have gone with silk flowers. Paper flowers can be stunning - I've taught children who are incredible at making them.

There are some great links available on Pintrest to different tutorials etc.

I've made bouquets from paper and I'm really happy with how they've turned out , even if they took an age to make

I'm not too sure where you can find some tutorials but I really love the idea - especially using the 1920s sheet music or classic novels. You could check out some of the UK wedding blogs to see if there's anyone who did their own paper bouquet and how they did it.

Just out of curiosity, has your wedding got a theme of 1920s running through it at all? Smiley smile

I'm planning on having a paper bouquet. I learned how to make origami flowers a few months back and made a practice bouquet for my mum for mother's day and she loved it. I'm now slowly making a few flowers at a time for my own bouquet and it's turning out to be very handy keeping my brain and hands busy while I quit smoking. To be fair in the time I've become obsessed with origami papers etc I have spent quite a fair bit of money so for me it's not a money saving idea, although I'm sure you could do it much cheaper if you wanted to. My younger brother taught me some basic origami flowers and I found a lot of really good tutorials online, there are lots on youtube. If I can find a pic of my practice I'll upload it.

Try Folksy (it's kind of the UK's answer to Etsy) if you're looking for UK suppliers of similar bouquets:
