Bra Fitting Recommendations

PurpleStar, 5 December, 2011 at 14:50 Posted on Planning 0 16

I need to buy a good strapless bra for my wedding dress and i've been told by my BM to get myself properly measured rather than just buying the size I think I am!

It's been so long since I had a fitting though that i'm not sure where to go to have one done.... any recommendations?

I had mine done at Debenhams. They were very helpful and I have since changed the size I wear! I initially went to M&S but they operated by appointment and the next one was some ludicrous time in the future.

I don't rate M&S bras at all and their fitting service is terrible in my experienc. I second Debenhams, as they have a choice of brands. The Wonderbra moulded strapless bra has had great reviews as a good choice for under wedding dresses. It's the one that looks really weird off, but does the job apparently!

Dont go to somewhere that use a tape measure to fit you. A bra fitter should be able to do it by looking at your breasts and the fit of the bra you are wearing. Tape measures dont stretch like bra bands. I would suggest Bravissimo or Rigby and Peller.

There is a La Senza near here so next time i'm in town I'll pop in and see if they can help... Busty I think Bravissimo tend to cater more for larger busted ladies and I definately don't fit in that category ?

I had a fitting at M&S several years ago and hated the experience - thanks for the advice hitchers Smiley smile

The Wonderbra Ultimate... this is amazing!

The best service I had was in Ann Summers of all places, the lady was lovely and really knew what she was talking about, followed closely by La Senza, the worst being in M&S.

Sadly AmyWilson that'd be 3 cup sizes too large... i'm currently wearing a 34B haha - my BM is making me get fitted because she's a D cup and reckons mine aren't that different to hers, i'm half going in the hope shes right and half going to prove her wrong lol

Completely agree with everybody about not trusting people who use tape measures. The best experience I've had was at Bravissimo.

Ideally, you should get properly fitted for every bra you buy. Obviously this isn't always possible though.

I would recommend wearing a top you can remove easily and a bra that you're comfortable in. They'll go from there!

In Bravissimo they ask you to take your bra off so they can measure you by eye.
