bridal handbag dispute

karen945, 10 July, 2011 at 22:40 Posted on Planning 0 21

I need lipstick, perfume, contact lens solution and other bits to hand on the day. I've bought a gorgeous small beaded clasp bag from John Lewis that'll do the job nicely. The problem is my Mum doesn't think I need a bag on the day.

I know I won't be walking down the aisle with it, but I need someone to hold it for me until we get to the wedding breakfast. Am I being unreasonable?

Has anyone else encountered this problem??

My cousin had it put under the table for her by the wedding co-ordinator for her, so it was there for when she sat down for her wedding breakfast

I had a bag with all my bits in and my Mum kept hold of it for me until I needed anything.

That's what I thought would be happening, but she's being a wee bit obstinate about it. Maybe I'll have to ask another close friend to 'babysit' my bag for me.

My Mum was a bit like this as well, but I am adamant that I am having one! I have seen the one I would like in Accessorize. Im not taking it with me to the ceremony, but my MOH is going to nip back to my room at the hotel and grab it for me before the reception starts.

I didn't have a bag. I got ready at my parents in the morning and my bridesmaid took all the things I needed in a holdall in the wedding car and then reception took it to my room for me at the venue. I actually hardly used it. My MUA was there all day so did my touch ups as and when needed.

I've got one ( it matches my shoes). I'll need make-up for touch ups etc, tissues, cash, and of course, my phone so I can update my status...

I've got one! I found a pale pink silk bag in TK Max for under a fiver which perfectly matched my pink roses theme. I won't need to put a lot in it as we are getting married & having the reception in the same venue but it'll be a real pain to keep popping up to the bridal suit each time I want to top up my lip gloss. I'll also need access to money for drinks. I will be entrusting my bag to one of my bridesmaids.

I didn't have one... my lipgloss was shoved down the front of my dress and everything else was distributed around other people's bags! My phone was in my dad's pocket, mum had the tissues and tbh I didn't need anything else!

    I didn't have one.

Room card and lip gloss was with my dad and then H. Had already given H a packet of tissues to keep with him and I certainly didn't want or need my phone with me all day. Drinks were put on a tab.

I'm not having one. I shouldn't need cash on my wedding day and BM or OH will have my lippy/gloss in his pocket. I will keep perfume and other essentials in my room so can nip up and freshen up when I need the loo!

I'm not having one per se.

H2B and I are staying at the hotel where we're getting married so everything I need will be in the room for the next morning (make up and stuff). I definately won't be needing money or my phone! If I have a handbag I'll only lose it in the excitement!

I bought one ages ago but may not need it now- will need make up touch ups, tissues and possibly my inhaler depending on how panicky I get..... was just going to give it to my sister/mum/bridesmaids to carry

Why is your mum getting so stroppy about it?

I'm not sure why she's so adamant about it. Maybe she only wants to carry a tiny handbag herself!

I think I'll be asking my friend to look after it

We are staying in the hotel where the wedding is being held so thought I would just pop back there for anything. But as I am moving from a family suite with the girls into the Bridal suite maybe I will have a rethink.

I've decided I'm having one, although my little sister thought it was a bit weird when I told her. I am a control freak and will want things all day - will ask my mum to look after it during the ceremony. Found a really cute one for only £8.99 in New Look which goes with my shoes and was exactly what I was looking for!
