Bridal Make Up

Bets2015, 7 April, 2014 at 20:29 Posted on Planning 0 12

Just wondering how much money people are spending/have spent on bridal make up? I haven't done much shopping around yet but I've been quoted £200 by one (she is amazing) but I don't know if this is crazy money or what the majority of bridal make up artists charge?! None of my friends are married yet so I have no one to compare notes with!

That does sound like a lot but then if you trust her work I would be tempted to go with the extra bit. Mine is £80 on the day, £40 for the trials x

I'm doing my own make up. I went to Bare Minerals and they taught me how to do it and sold me all the make up. I spent £316!!!! Nearly had a heart attack but obviously I will use the make up for other events and I needed to refresh my make up collection!

I'm paying £260 for hair and make up for me and my sister and that includes a trial for both of us too and a quick style for my mum. That includes about an hours travel each way, although we did get a bit off the usual price because my mum's been going to the salon for years. The salon owner will do our hair and her beauty therapist will do out makeup. It is definitely cheaper than the first lady I was going with which would have cost about £320.

    In the Midlands, I've heard prices from £30 / £35 (trial/wedding) to £100/£120.

Having had one rubbish trial, then a decent one, the quality of 'workmanship' as it were did not appear to link in any way to the price at all.

The one I eventually went with was £60 / £60.

Where are you in the midlands claire and who's your MUA?

I too have seen a huge range in prices and some of the cheaper ones don't seem to have online portfolios which puts me off. My favoured one is around £390 for me, 3 BMs and my mum but that only includes a trial for me

Yeah I agree, the cheaper make up artists that I have found website's do not have as much content so it's difficult to judge their work. The make up artist that I have found is amazing, her brides look amazing. I just hadn't planned on spending that kind of money on make up :/

My MOH works on a make up counter so she did our make up for nothing. However I did spend £145 on new make up and brushes - and that was with double discount!

    North of Mansfield.

The first MUA I had a trial with had a massive portfolio on her website, but she turned out to be pants. The second one had no photos at all in her portfolio online, and was good, and also lovely. I don't necessarily believe all the portfolio photos are 'real' when you look through these websites tbh.

I charge £50 practice, £90 wedding day for a bride and £40 practice, £45 wedding day for other adults I've been a bridal makeup artist for over 15 years and I've worked on over 1000 weddings so my prices reflect this. I do think you get what you pay for with any creative people. Juliet x
