bridal makeup?

bride26, 20 April, 2012 at 21:03 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hello ladies, its been a long time since ive posted on here lol! only 11 weeks to go till our big day Smiley smile

So im looking at makeup, and 2 brands that im considering are Estee Lauder and MAC. My two bridesmaids used MAC on their wedding days and rave about it. I had a little trial with estee lauder and it was free and i loved the look. both similar in price but the only thing putting me off about MAC is the fact you have to pay £25 for a trial (wth?) and the MAC makeups artists werent v friendly.. maybe they were all having an offday :/ So my question is who have you gone with or any experiences you can share? id hate to write MAC of based on my one interaction but like they say first appearences and all that!

Thanks! x

Ok- I am probably being numb, so forgive me.

Are you having trials with MAC etc before the day and then buying products and doing your own with their products on your actual wedding day?? I am still in a total quandry about what to do- pro MUA or DIY!!

Hey claire2999 im getting a trial then getting them to show me how to do it and ill buy the makeup Smiley smile i have a friend who is a makeupartist but she wanted £90 incuding petrol and it included 1 trial and makeup on the day, as far as im aware thats an average price. but i figured paying for my own makeup and learning how to do it is more beneficial Smiley smile good luck with whatever u decide!

The fee you pay at Mac is redeemable in product.

Hi Rochelle, yeah thats true but thats only if i like the makeup :/ if i dont like it ive wasted £25. Clinique have always done them free and so has Estee lauder as far as im aware!

Doesnt account for the rudeness of the artists either! lol

In the past I have had makeovers done with Lancome and the staff have been helpful and done a really good job, I have never really had a clue about make up and dont wear it that often. The make over is free with them as well. I am using them to get ideas and will buy the make up over the next few months and will do it myself on the day.

I've had a makeover from MAC. You do pay £25 but you get to choose products up to that value at the end so I thought it was a pretty good deal! I wouldn't have it done by them again though because even though the girl was really friendly, the make up was terrible! It was for a family party and I went home and took it off and did it myself. The face make up was too pale, the eyeshadow was clown like and my eyelashes looked like spiders legs! But that is just one make up artist so I can't speak for them as a company, and I do love their products. (That was the Nottingham store by the way).

I've also had the same thing from Illamasqa, £25 but redeemable in products. This was at their counter in Selfridges in the Trafford Centre and it was amazing. She really took her time and listened to everything I wanted and the result was fab and lasted all night.

I do think it's sort of luck of the draw as to which make up artist you get though!
