Bridal party?

Horace, 2 November, 2013 at 23:03 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hello wise brides-to-be and OMs - I need your help! Is it incorrect to refer to the bridesmaids, bride's parents AND the best man and groom's parents as the bridal party? I have made half of my orders of ceremony using 'bridal party' to name all of them but now wonder if that is actually right or not! Thanks!

Bridal party is really you, BM's, MOB (and maybe FOB?). Really if its the groom, best man etc included its more of a 'wedding party' in my eyes, not sure if that the official stance on it

Hmm that is not what I was hoping to hear! I have seen a couple of references to the bridal party including Groom's side too but nothing to confirm one way or the other! Looks like I am re-making the orders... ?

I'm not sure of the answer to this but I'm sure they won't notice even if it's not correct.

When googling this it seems like "wedding party" is pretty much interchangeable with the "bridal party" and it might be an american expression anyway? This site suggests everyone is included https://www.thespruce.com/best-gifts-4163117

Like I said, I'm sure they won't notice so I wouldn't worry about it x

Interesting find, I chalk up my idea of 'wedding party' due to my slightly feminist ideals. I think it might be personal preference

So if it dosent include the grooms parents where is the "groomal party". I have seen it every which way you can think of, including the bride and groom -bridesmaids and chaps in the suits with no mums. And never take it for granted that I know what they mean when im told "bridal party"

In my eyes the wedding party includes bride & parents and BM'S MOH, Groom & parents and groomsmen & best man

Thank you - my OH thinks I'm nuts and that no one will notice, my mum thinks bridal party is actually correct and the thought of having to do them all again was horrifying so I think I am just going to wing it and hope they are either correct or that no one notices! 3 and a bit weeks to go now and the stress is really kicking in! Thanks everyone!
