bridemaids - All or none?

Tinkers1, 2 September, 2011 at 13:45 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi everyone,

I am in a group of 7 friends, I really wanna ask the other 6 to be BM's for me but we are already having our sisters (we both have 1 sister) so that means 8 bridesmaids! This isnt including our 2 flower girls either, would you say this is too much?

I have found a website called Bridesmaids.com where I can get dessy dresses for 75ish each so that would knock the cost down and I am sure they will all buy their own shoes. We are having quite a big wedding in a lovely manor house and I always dreamed my best friends would be my bridesmaids. Whats your opinion on having lots of bridesmaids? xxx

If that is what you want and they are all your friends that you want for bridesmaids - go for it! It would look lovely - and if they are all your friends I think you could easily say you want them all but there is a cost issue, if you buy their dresses and flowers will they sort their shoes and hair - I intend saying that to my 2 friends who I'm having.

I think if you want them all, then you should have them!

I am having my 4 sisters, my best friend and his sister. My 2 nieces are my flowergirls. His son, my nephew and my best friends little boys are our page boys!

Thankfully they are all paying for their own outfits as they know we cant afford to.

I'd said I was just having my daughter and great neice but then on the spur of the moment asked my 2 best friends coz I wanted them - told the OH after he was fine - when I told my mother she was like 'but they're old!!!' Unfortunately I then had to remind her they are the same age as me! lol

Defo go for the 8! I had 6 adults and two flowergirls and was so worried there was too many but I am so glad my girls where with me through the whole experience and went through all the emotions with me. I would of regretted not having them all there!

    Good Luck x

    Go for it!!

I'm having my 2 older sisters, my best friend and my eldest niece as bridesmaids and my youngest niece as a flowergirl.

    My 2 boys are 'ushers'

All of my bridesmaids are paying for their own shoes the only thing I have asked is that they are either ivory or silver xx

Remember that the costs soon mount up... It's not just dresses, shoes, hair and make up; it's also jewellery, tiara/clips/gems, flowers and presents. So a £20 gift x 8 = £160 (etc etc)

But if you can afford it, then go for it!

Go for it!! I am having 1 MOH, 5 BM and 3 Flowergirls. Their parents are all paying for their dresses (except MOH, I am buying hers). I debated for ages, but I really really want them all, so I am having them all! :-)

I think you should have what you want. I am having five and people take a wee intake of breath when i say that but if you can afford it then you should do it. I would echo what nursey said about the cost adding up. I managed to get dresses for £40 for the four oldest and £120 for my youngest, however i have then had to pay for alterations £30 each,bags,£20 each, hair stuff..around £60,presents/tissues/bouquets£200 and then hair and make up for them all which is £420. It has cost a fortune but i don't grudge it..they bought shoes themselves.
