Brides in Glasses?

TracieGtobe, 21 August, 2011 at 16:05 Posted on Planning 0 19

Hi guys,

just a random question I am hoping the hitchers can help with.

I normally wear glasses, quite funky looking with thick, deep red frames. But since we announced the wedding date everyone keeps asking me if I am getting contacts for the wedding?

Now i hadnt considered it tbh - I have worn contacts before but am too lazy to faff with them most of the time so stick with my glasses. Everyone seems really shocked when I say that i was gonna stick with my glasses

Can i have your opinions - should i go with contacts, or stick with my glasses?

Stick with the glasses, if you didnt even consider changing out of them then it just goes to show that they are an extension of yourself.

Your specs sound nice, if i was you i might considering incorporating a touch of red into teh dress i think that would be gorg. xx

    Hi!

I personally think that if your prefer to wear glasses, wear them! You want to look like you, the person who your OH loves and wants. If you feel that your glasses are too strong, you could possibly opt for thinner framed glasses?

Do what you feel happy doing, not what others want! ?

I have seen lots of photo's with brides in glasses and not thought anything of it. If you are happiest in your glasses and wear them most of the time then wear them, especially if you are not most comfortable wearing contacts. I wear glasses most of the time but socially I always wear contacts so will wear contacts for my wedding.

You want to look like you on the day and be comfortable and your glasses sound fashionable so if you are happy then wear them.

I shall be sticking with my glasses, I always wear them so never even considered contacts for the big day. I'm sure I’ll have plenty of other things to faff on with without contacts too. I tried contacts once and I couldn't get the hang of getting them out, if I made the effort to use them on the day I’d probably poke myself in the eye and end up with loads of photos where I have red eyes.

Tbh I’d find it odd if you did switch to contacts for only one day if like you say you normally wear glasses, but then again I know plenty of people who switch to contacts for a night out.

Ultimately though it’s up to you whether you want the added faff and whether you think you look better without glasses, i vote stick with glasses x

    Hiya

I peronally think if you normally wear glasses and didnt even consider wearing contacts thats what you should do. They sound funky and you are supposed to look like you on your wedding day just a more perfect version.

I also wear glasses but as a back up to my contacts which i wear most of the time so on my wedding day il be wearing contacts because this is how I am everyday and feel comfortable and a lot of people dont even know i wear contacts/glasses anyways so if i wore glasses on our big day people wud prob think it weird lol.

    Hi,

I have had a few people ask about my hair. My hair is cut in the same style as Frankie from the Saturdays, so very cropped on one side and chin length if not a bit longer on the other, and it is red! Not as red as Rhianna for example but quite red.

A few people have said "what are you going to do with your hair" my reply " nothing". My H2B loves my hair and wants to see me walking down the aisle!

If you feel comfy in your specs then wear them!x

I think you should wear them personally. Otherwise you run the risk of looking back at your wedding pictures and it not looking like "you"

MrMini wears glasses and it wouldnt have even crossed our minds that he would not wear them on the day- he dosnt look like him without them.

I got glasses in March, they're only for driving in and I have no intention of wearing them at my wedding. They're not what I consider 'me' as I only use them for driving and most of the time I am glasses-less.

However, for a while there i was considering it because I actually realised my OH and practically everyone else thinks they look so great on me that its verging on i look better in them than out of them! mine are purple metal and i do love them but i won't be wearing them lol

If you feel like you in your glasses, wear them.

Personally, I wear glasses, but I hate them and always wear contacts for nights out. I don't like being photographed in them, so I take them off for pictures. I will be wearing my contacts for the wedding.

My OH wears glasses and will be wearing them on the day - he dislikes contact lenses.

I wear glasses day in day out but I wear contacts whenever I go for a night out. I don't feel dressed up enough if I'm wearing my glasses as it's my everyday casual look. I will definitely be wearing contacts on my wedding day.

    Hi Tracie,

I'm getting married at the Little Silver Hotel and on their gallery of wedding pics is a bride in glasses - she looks stunning.

I'm glad you posted this as it never crossed my mind but as I wear mine for distances I may need them to see H2B at the end of the aisle! Will have to get a new pair though, current ones are held together with wire one side and missing a nose pad - very glamorous lol!

It's down to a simple question really, do you want to see everything and enjoy your day, or wander around in a haze tripping over things?

I wear glasses all the time, would never wear contacts, and the thought of not wearing my glasses at our wedding never even crossed my mind.

I did, however, get some new ones this weekend but that's partly because my others were tinted reactive to help in bright sunlight - which, of course, on the day will mean they are dark because we'll be outside in the glorious sunshine *cough* having our photos taken. Got a specsavers offer with one tinted and one not, but identical frames. Not really into this 'different pair for different looks' malarkey.

By the way, glasses can actually look quite sexy when worn right...

    Hello!

I wear glasses 95% of the time, however on nights out I wear contacts so I will be wearing contacts for our wedding. However my friend got married in glasses and I didnt even think about it, go with what you are comfortable in. My mum wants me to wear glasses as she said that is me.

    xx

I wear contact lenses 90% of the time at home, and 70% of the time at work. I'm planning on wearing my lenses on the day. I will be taking my glasses and solution with me just in case my lenses play up.

Go with whatever you feel comfortable with on the day.
