Hello ladies,

I am thinking of doing a speech at the wedding but i don't know if its too much after my OH, BM and my dad. Are any of you thinking of doing one/ done one? what kind of things did you include?

Thanks for your help.

I too have been thinking of doing a speech but was wondering when. I was thinking of doing it a bit later on into the evening and was going to get the mums up for flowers and give my gifts out to the wedding party the but i am extremely shy and decided i didn't want to bring even more attention to myself than i need to so i may do it when the others do theirs. Not sure yet though.

I might end up doing a speech as OH is extremely shy and might bottle out of doing one.... even if he does i might do one anyway as i'd quite like to do my own thank you's for my bridesmaids and possibly say something to OH's parents

I am doing one. I feel like this is one of the only times in my life when I will have almost all of my family and friends in the same place and they are coming out to support me on one of the biggest days of my life. My side are all coming from abroad as well which is even more special. I just couldn't let that pass without saying thank you myself and letting them all know how much it means to me.

I will be thanking everyone, recognising my parents and BMs for their help, recognising my new in-laws who I love, and then saying a few things letting my H2B how much I love him and how excited I am to start our life together... you know, all that mushy stuff!

And of course this is all depedent on whether I can get through it all without turning into a blubbery mess!

Not set in stone or anything, but OH and I might do a joint speech. I don't see why he should say something if I don't. The wedding planning book I have is positively ancient and it says the ettiquette is that Brides may speak, but must allow their husband to speak first. My eyes popped and I reacted with a very high pitched, "whaaaat?!"

So yes, speaking together Smiley smile Basically to thank all our guests for traveling to celebrate with us, etc.

I will be making one, probably straight after the groom. I know it may seem a lot of speeches, but none of our speeches will be long. Given it's a huge day and OH will get a chance to say how much he loves me etc, I want a chance to tell everyone I love what he means to me and why it is the best day ever.

Hmmmmm. I wasn't go to as i'm a terrible speaker and when people are watching me I start to get all flustered! After reading this though, I think if I can get over my nerves it might be quite nice, I had wanted to do something for my OH on the day so he knew how special he was to me, but maybe if I do a speech I would be able to tell him instead x

God no! I don't want to speak, although if we get gifts for BMs etc (haven't got this far) then I may hand them out and do the thank yous but not a speech as such,

I too am doing a speech, for 3 reasons really, I have family travelling from Ireland and the USA and would like to thank them myself, my Mum and Dad are paying for our wedding so would like to thank them personally and I know H2B is planning to say lots of lovely things about me and I feel its only right that i should only do the same for him!
