I have seen some threads on here from Bride to Be's talking about THEIR speech? Why do brides now have to feel that they want to do this? I, personally, dont think that the bride should do a speech... to be frank the poor groom doesnt have an awful lot to do ont he day other than turn up, the eyes...

I, personally, dont think that the bride should do a speech... to be frank the poor groom doesnt have an awful lot to do ont he day other than turn up, the eyes are mostly on the bride and now she is taking his thunder and taking away one thing he has to do to get some limelight...

I think it is wrong for the bride to steal his 5 minutes of glory IMO..

Seriously... I do not believe you sometimes.. only a few weeks ago you were spouting on about how traditional and traditional values you have and then you put this post on here? I'm sorry but I think you need to make up your mind what you are!!

Ouch, surely we might all be guilty of inconsistencies in our various postings, no?

Having "traditional values" - does that mean you have to be entirely "traditional" about everything you do? Or does one, like all, pick and choose which bits they want to be "traditional" and which they are going to be Thoroughly Modern Millies about? I'd bet a large sum of money that some here have espoused the traditional "bride does nothing except look pretty" whilst ignoring traditions about not poppping monetary requests into an invitation, for example.

Wow that was like watching tennis.

Didnt realise poeple felt so strongly.

OH wants me to make a speech. He's thinking along the lines of if I have to do it so do you!

I have told him no way.

I'll be making a speech, my OH doesn't want to make one as he's not comfortable speaking in front of a room full of people. Even if he was making one I'd still want to say something and I don't think it would be stealing his thunder and he wouldn't either.
