Brides2B with kids...

LennonLuver, 12 August, 2009 at 11:17 Posted on Planning 0 8

Just wondering what you are all planning to do childcare wise for wedding?

My wee cherubs will be 9 and 5 when wedding finally arrives, I don't really want them there all night as there will be copious amounts of alcohol flowing I'm sure and don't think it's the best environment for them, I remember being at a family wedding at about age 8 and was a bit scared of all my drunken aunts and uncles!!!

Only people we trust to look after our kids are my parents so feel bad if we ask them to leave early(about 10pm) with kids.

If there is acomadation at the venue mayb you could hire a sitter to lookm after them in a bedroom so they can sleep and your parents take them home when they go that way you dont feel like you asking them to leave early and you can nip up and check on them whenever

    Thanks Jen

Yeah it is a but tricky with kids, suppose that's one of the reasons why your meant to wait until after your married to have babies lol!

We haven't booked venue yet but are definately hoping to get one with accomodation cos there will be about 15 kids there ranging from almost 2 upto 13 so want to make it easier for us and other guests.

Do you have friend that would mined them for you for the day and then be willing to take them early and sit with them. Have a chat with your Mum she might be willing to leave earlier with them.

    Hi,

I am a Wedding and Civil Service planner, i also have children who were 2 and 7 when i got married, i put in to place nannies for the whole day and evening. It was amazing, not only for my children but for other peoples children, all of whom had a great time and didn't get bored at all! The parents couldn't have been more impressed, as they were bale to relax and enjoy the day!

I can arrange a tailor made package for you, vet all your nannies to ensure they all have the relevent checks, qualifications and insurance, and arrange for you and your children to meet them before your special day.

Please email me for more information at ****@******************.**.**.

I look forward to hearing from you, good luck on your special day!

    Regards

    Sarah Andrews

I'll certainly think about the nanny idea but I think we will be fine during the day as between ourselves, family, friends and my parents the kids will be well looked after it's just the evening when things get a bit complicated cos alcohol gets involved, I am probably going to ask my mum if she would mind leaving at about 10 with kids, but the kids may surprise me and last all day you never know! Was just curious what other brides where planning, thanks very much for commenst/advice x

My boys will be 6 and 2 when we get married. They'll just be there all night, I don't think I'll be asking for anyone to specifically look afer them. My MIL doesn't really drink a lot, so she will probably help to amuse them. I don't plan on gettingplastered, so I should be able to look after my boys and keep them amused!

I won't be getting plastered either (want to remember as much as poss and alcohol is my memory's enemy lol) I'm just worried about others getting plastered and my kids witnessing it, suppose we'll just have to wait and see what happens and hope no one gets too drunk! My OH's side are big drinkers you see and there's always one who goes OTT at family occasions x

I'd say at 9 and 5 they'll probably be ok to stay up, but I know what you mean about not wanting them to witness drunken behaviour - is there any chance they'll just crash out on some chairs or something?

You might find the venue has a babysitting service once you've decided on somewhere ?
