Bridesmaid and Ushers/ best man

IrishBride, 18 February, 2009 at 16:40 Posted on Planning 0 7

HI there

I know this topic has come up, but i just wanted advice on whether this would look weird.

I want two bridesmaids - that is all, and H2B wants to have 1 best man and two ushers - would three men/two women look weird in the photos, walking down the ailse??

We are having a traditional irish catholic wedding and i am just wondering whether the above would look weird to everyone, considering i dont want to ask someone else to be a bridesmaid just for the sake of it?

Cheers

Sorry I don't know anything about catholic weddings, but wouldn't the best man already be at the altar with the Groom. So just 2 bridesmaids & 2 ushers to walk down the aisle with you.

Your best man and ushers don't walk down the aisle, except after the ceremony when noone's really watching anyway. It won't look weird in photos either.

You mean on the way out? No, I don't think so. TBH in our walking out photos you can only see me and H. I was originally only going to have 2 BMs, H was having 2 ushers and best man, and I can honestly say this issue never crossed my mind - in the end I did have 3 BMs, but only one of them walked out with a groomsman.

Think of it this way - it's "traditional" for the parents to walk out together (eg FOB with MOG, MOB with FOG) but not everyone has 2 parents each side ... I really don't think it matters. All eyes will be on you and your new H as this will be the first time people see your faces close up after getting wed!

I'm only have one bridesmaid and my H2B is having a best man and two ushers. The thought never crossed my mind that it wouldn't be symmetrical.

I suppose the two ushers will just have to walk back down the aisle with each other!

Hope not thats exactly what we are having!

TBH we didn't choose them so they would be equal, just because I had 2 close friends I wanted as BMs and OH had 3 for BM and 2 ushers. I don't think it matters really - we are having a civil ceremony anyhow so bit more relaxed...

    Hi

I'm also having 2 BMs and 2 ushers, as well as the best man. Haven't decided about who's going down the aisle together but I've definitely been to at least 2 weddings where the bridesmaids have paired up with the ushers going down the aisle - the best man being at the front with the groom. I think that's what we're going to go with otherwise I'm not really sure what the ushers will do, except for wearing matching suits!
