susanb, 22 March, 2013 at 18:34 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi all

well aged 40 I am finally getting married...........I have done everything possible to avoid commitment or decisions, but he is so the one.......and I am so lucky

I have only run out of one wedding shop cause they were pushing me to try on dresses

Did try on wedding dress eventually...........and now want to try on more :-) lots more

now I need to think about bridesmaid colours

I am sooooooo not an up to date person.....don't follow fashion, don't follow hollywood stars

and feel really out of my depth with all this wedding stuff

so help

what colours are "in" for bridesmaid dresses

would not like to appear too old fashion at my wedding, so want to choose the in thing

what colours are other people going for........and can I ask why.........

I don't even have a favorite colour.......

'In' is whatever you want it to be, of course there are 'in' colours and without searching on the internet I wouldn't have a clue. My BM dresses are blue, they were sapphire blue and matching but are now mis matched blues (oasis and ocean) Why? because I like how they look and nothing more than that. I had a button bouquet made and it was named 'A daydream in Blue' by the designer and that's what I've gone with...hues of blue. I like it but your taste maybe a single colour or 2 colours. You could think about the time of year that you're getting married and what colours you associate with each season.

I'm sure that you'll get lots of ideas and suggestions from the lovely ladies on here, best advice I can give....enjoy your planning and don't stress about what is 'in' ?

Since I chose black and white for my wedding it seems to have become really popular!! I chose black because it's my favourite colour and I don't really care that people say it's like a funeral.

How about thinking about what flowers you want and matching from there? Or a popular thing to do is to have the bridesmaids in different colours. You could choose pastels or deep colours.

If you're buying them from a wedding shop then the world is your oyster and you can choose any colour you want. But if you want to stick to the high street then you will be a little bit restricted with your colours.

Hi there :0) I'm not far behind you- I turn 39 a week after our wedding this June!

Like you it's my first time (previous opportunities but only my OH cut the mustard ;0) )

Tbh I don't really care what is fashionable or the in/done thing- all the decisions we (that is of course the 'royal we'! ) have made have been purely because it's what we like. Stuff trends or tradition... Just go with whatever, wherever, whenever and however you like - its your day and noone else's. Besides, I doubt anyone would ever look at something at your wedding and think OMG that is like sooooo last season!! And if they do, they deserve a right good kick up the a**e lol!!

Incidentally our colours are pale ivory and gunmetal silver grey- love it!!:0) xx

    I went for these....

just because I saw them and loved them.

I didn't have a colour in mind before so I just went for a dress I liked and which suited my BMs.
