Bridesmaid dress - honest opinions needed!

laura02010, 11 February, 2013 at 10:14 Posted on Planning 0 24

Hi lovely ladies,

I've been struggling to find a bridesmaid dress that I love and that is in the right colour and style. The dress I have found is the perfect colour but not really the style that I was after, that said I am trying to think outside the box and imagine my bridesmaid with her hair all done nicely, wearing nice shoes and holding a boquet (my colours are pastel peach and sage green). What do you ladies honestly think about this dress as a bridesmaid dress - http://www.very.co.uk/coleen-dobby-top-dress/1160719573.prd?browseToken=%2fq%2fpeach+dress

I think it depends on the style of your wedding as it's obviously not a traditional, formal bridesmaid dress but I think it could really work. I really like it.

How many BMs do you have?

Tbh I'm not keen, particularly as someone with a sizeable bust, a high neck combined with sleeves just makes me look peculiar and feel uncomfortable. I guess it depends on the shape of your BMs though! It's a very pretty colour :-)

I like the colour but am not keen as they don't seem special enough for bridesmaid dresses. I agree with Kharv though in that it depends on your wedding and the style of your day. If it's a more laid-back affair then it could work.

The style of the wedding is a bit rustic, vintagey but I'm trying to keep it really fresh and clean!

I only have one bridesmaid and a little flower girl. My bridesmaid is quite petite so I'm quite sure the dress would suit her, I'm just not sure if it's bridesmaidey enough!!!

I don't think it's very bridesmaidey but it could work ok with your theme. I think you'd need to get her to try it on really to see what you think

It's lovely but I would think that it's something a guest would wear.

Maybe take bm and go and try it on?

I like it, but I'm not keen on the sleeves. Perhaps you could get it altered to get them taken off. I think it would make it more dressy.

Also could you add a sash belt to it with a corsage or some bling on it, may dress it up a bit?

Really appreciate all the feedback, thank you!

I don't know whether to order it or not, already sent one dress back and the P&P costs soon stack up! Anyone know where I can find a nice pastel peach dress? Smiley smile

If you order from very and have a collect + store near you it should be delivered for free as thats what i did with my wedding dress i got from there and you can take it back to that store and send it back for free if you don't like it.

I think it's very pretty! no its not a formal bridesmaid dress, but I'm not keen on that tbh anyway. I think with hair done and shoes and flowers etc it could be lovely! A lot of people don't have formal BM dresses now. If youre not 100% though there are quite a few nice pastel pink/peach/nude dresses on high street at the moment - I've been looking at a similar colour. I've got three BMs and we decided on a lovely nude dress with embellished straps and neck line from topshop. It's not a formal BM dress either but it looks lovely. Smiley smile

I agree with BEG - I think it could look really pretty. Some would say my BM dresses weren't traditional but I think they looked great.

I think with her hair done, lovely heels and a bouquet it will look really pretty.

Honestly? I hate it. Really don't like the baggy top, and think it's really unflattering. Sorry.

It's a bit more expensive but Debenhams have a similar one (same colour and length but not the same style)

That's much nicer - so much more feminine and has a bit more shape to it

Much nicer. Just make sure it's not too short for what you want.

The second one is pretty. I think you mentioned your BM is quite petite so this will probably be ok, but I would also be careful of it being too short.
