Bridesmaid Dresses

Beachbum, 14 January, 2012 at 18:17 Posted on Planning 0 23

Hi! Just a quick one..

Roughly how much are you paying for your bridesmaids dresses? Am I correct in assuming that about £200 is average for one dress?? The only ones I've seen in the right colour are Dessy dresses but havent been to any shops not sure how much they are.

I do only have one bridesmaid though and of course I want her to have something she feels fab in..

Oh and if anyone has recs for flowergirl dresses I'd appreciate it!

Thanks ladies

I got mine from Debenhams for £130...they are now half price in the sale too!

I think you will find some people get bargains for £30 and others pay £200.....it really depends on what you want...

I got mine for £90 each but they were Coast (with a discount). I wouldn't have paid £200 per dress!

I did look at Debenhams/Coast, but because I want something in a specific colour (charcoal) I'm struggling to find anything! I should have thought thru this colour scheme thing!!

    Hi,

I guess it depends on what you have to spend! When I was BM for a friend, I bought my own dress (we had a colour and shopped together, but my choice mostly and something I could wear again - if I ever loose some weight!), that was a £200 Karen Millen dress for £90 in a sale.

I have 3 BMs, 2 girls and a guy - girls are having outfits made - one a dress, one trousers and a top and the guy is getting a waistcoat and bowtie in the same fabric. I think all together it will be about £300, or a bit less - hard to tell cos the fabric and dressmaker costs is making bowties and cummerbunds for the chaps too!

I think, the best thing would be to have an idea of a maximum price, but just shop for something she loves - no point spenind £200 if less will do it. Also, don't forget that some places like coast etc do quite a range of colours in some styles, and also there are some places that do 'made to measure' in a range of colours.

I don't know where you are b tu I found this place near where my mum lives - the ladies are fabulous and their dresses have quite a big colour range as well as some fab styles!:

How Odd, when I was BM a year and a bit ago, I had a pewter colour dress - so light charcoal or dark silver I guess, and they were everywhere!

If you have a reasonable budget you might be able to get something made?

You are clearly a fab bargain hunter charliebird7 - where on earth did you get them??

Thanks everyone for your tips, I'm off to scour the internet a bit more.. I think £200 is my max budget, I just didn't know if I was looking at really expensive places or if that was average. I'll keep on looking!!

I ordered my adult BM's dresses yesterday Romantica Elsa they were £159 each and are new dresses for this year. I don't think they are that expensive not for what you get and when you have three different size BM's much less hassel than trying to find them on the highstreet. These will also be my gift to them. I'm very happy, I did have a budget of £200 each and thought the dresses we chose were going to by £250+ so in a way I got myself a bargin!

I spent ages trying to find the right colour BM dresses on the high street & couldn't find any so I've ended up spending £215 per dress (I've 3 BM's) but I'm so happy with the colour & style to me it was worth it.

As others have said, it really depends on what you are looking for. As I'm only having a maid of honour I let her choose the dress. I emailed her a large range and the one that she felt suited her best was only £14.99 - she obviously has cheap taste ?

As it was only her I was in a position to spend as little or as much as required to make her feel comfortable, but she isn't a girlie girl so wanted this (with a chunky white belt instead):

I'm bridesmaid for my BM in august and she was struggling to find dresses in the colour she wanted on the highstreet (cornflower blue) but we found an American website which has hundreds, all materials and colours you could think of and really cheap....www.jjshouse.com

La510, have you seen the dress yet? I like some dresses on here (for BM) but not entirely sure it's going to be nice when it arrives. I had thought it was a China based company. You opinion on the quality would be great as I will then consider using them.

    I've bought :

    one from Very (£37)

one from Very outlet store on ebay (£15)

One from an ebay tore (£20)

    £72 total.

saying that though i was a bridesmaid a few years back & my bridesmaid dress was from coast & it was £200 and then there were two other bridesmaids in dresses also from coast £200 down to £90. I cant afford that luxury and i am please with my bargains Smiley smile x

No way i was going to pay excess of £120 per dress for something that they really, in all fairnesss were not going to wear again!

I took my BMs shopping and they found some long bridesmaid like dresses for £49 each!!! Bonus is they could be worn afterwards!
