Bridesmaid dresses

Kwal, 19 March, 2014 at 19:14 Posted on Planning 0 12

I ordered my own dress today!!! Smiley laugh Smiley laugh Smiley laugh

While I was in the shop I had a look at bridesmaid dresses and they were all around £300 each, with 3 bridesmaids this is more than I was looking to spend, can anyone recommend any other places for bridesmaid dresses, I've seen a few I like on Chinese websites but very nervous about ordering from them, has anyone used any of them before?

I haven't ordered any dresses from a Chinese seller myself but I saw this wedding last week on Love My Dress...

and the bridesmaid's dresses were from a Chinese seller on Etsy and they look really nice, so might be a good place to look?

    Hi,

I know a lot of brides don't like doing it incase a guest shows up in the same dress but I got mine in the coast sale for £70 each. 3 bridesmaids at £210 was cheaper than what I was being quoted for one dessy dress.

I bought the dresses for my bridesmaids from bhs. Found a discount code for them and managed to get 2 dresses for £170. Saved £50 which can now be used towards their accessories or make up :-)

Coast, Debenhams, John Lewis, BHS all do ranges that would be suitable for bridesmaids. I also got a long chiffon-esque dress from New Look last summer for a wedding I went to - it could easily have passed for a bridesmaid's dress if I'd been holding a bouquet.

Is there a particular colour or style you're looking for?

Thanks everyone! That's definitely given me a few places to look through, I just can't justify £300 per dress and the alterations on top!

Here's my dress! Smiley smile ...not the best photo but best one I can find!

Gorgeous dress! I got my bridesmaid dresses from bhs - £95 each which I still think is a lot. My friend got ours from light in the box - really good quality. The only reason I didn't get them from there is after import costs and alterations it would workout about the same as the bhs dresses. These are the litb ones from last year.

I got my dress from Lightinthebox and am delighted with it, do go for the made to measure option though, totally worth it as no alteration costs! They have all styles, fabrics and colours. When i went through the check out procedure my dress was a little more than I originally thought but this was partially because I chose to add insurance onto my order and the other factor I forgot was shipping charges. The tracking system was brilliant and the dress arrived well packaged and without any unexpected costs. I was in fear of extra shipping costs, import duty etc but it was unfounded.

We went to a bridal shop for my teenage bridesmaids and their dresses worked out at £159.00 each, went for this option as my nieces have never been to a wedding before, have confidence issues and I wanted them to feel really special and valued and I know they won't be in this position unless they are asked by friends when they are grown up. Their dresses all need altering (an extra £30.00 each) so have each cost more than my dress.

If my bridesmaids were older I'd have used Light in the Box but for me it was important that they have the full experience and moment in the spot light.

Good luck, let us know how you get on:-)

My bridesmaids' dresses are from Phase Eight.

After the girls had tried on and we'd pretty much decided we wanted them, the lady whispered to me not to buy them that day, but to wait until the following day when their big winter sale was starting! Ended up getting 3 dresses for £285. Not the very cheapest, but I was thrilled with them, plus got cashback from my credit card (which is all due to come in 3 months before the wedding, which will be very helpful!).

ETA: Needless to say, when i went back to buy them, and the manager was serving me, I made sure to praise their sales woman to the skies!
