Bridesmaid dresses

Jade1990, 2 November, 2015 at 13:10 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi all, just wanted a bit of advice on Bridesmaid dresses.

If anyone can help with the following that would be appreciated:

- Do people still have the silky/satin material bridesmaid dresses?? or is that a bit old fashioned now?

- What's peoples thoughts on miss match dresses? (colour miss match only) I can't decide on whether to have all the same colour or a few different shades of one colour.

- Recommendations of bridesmaid dress designers

- Buying from the internet rather than a shop. I have seen a style of dress that I love (not pictured below), but can only find them on line from USA. They don't do material/colour samples so not sure what to do.

These are the 3 designs I have narrowed it down to so far.

I love the satin one on the right as its the exact colour I want and hard to achieve with chiffon, but not sure if satin is a bit dated now? Do people still have satin dresses?

Colour wise I want neutrals as I'm having a rustic theme. I quite like the neutrals with the dusky purple and think they go together quite well, but want a bit of feedback on what peoples thoughts are on miss matched colours. I have 5 bridesmaids so picked these 5 dress colours (the purple on the far right I would prefer to have a more dusky colour).

Thanks in advance ?

I'm not great with fashion, so I don't have masses of advice, but my bridesmaids wore mismatched colours of turquoise, and we had so many positive comments. It looks amazing in my opinion.

I like what your idea is with the colours. I'd say it would definitely work!

I really like where there is something different for bridemaids, whether it's different shoes or different dresses - makes them look like people not a clone.

I think all the colours go really nicely, and nothing wrong with mis-matched colours.

I don't have a problem with satin as some wedding dresses are satin so can't be that dated, maybe just go regular shopping and try on a satin dress and see how you/your bridesmaids feel in it.

You know I never thought of the fact that some wedding dresses are satin haha. I think maybe trying a few different materials on might be a good idea before we pick anything. I want something different and I know usually bridesmaids are all the same so thought different colours might work

Oh lovely! Do you have any pictures? I love turquoise! I just want something a bit different from the norm, which is why I'm also going for a full on winter wedding

I'm going for Dessy too but in either chiffon or georgette depending on the style my bridesmaids choose.

I wore satin dresses twice as a bridesmaid, both with quite heavy lining and netting, and both in August. I was sweating. Plus one of them was corseted. I'd say go for whatever you like but be aware of the time of year. Satin is completely off my list for that reason.

Yeah I can imagine satin would be heavy and hot but I'm getting married in December so that might be a good thing for me!

Love same dresses in different colours. Love different dresses if the same fabric etc. I think your pic of different coloured dresses looks lovely. I like the multiway dresses too as they can each style it to suit them.

Dated dresses are dated but I dont think you can blame material (unless its a heavy dated print like flowers) its more cuts and styles like big puffy sleeves

satin is still used hense why they still make and sell it and it thats the colour you want then go for it ?

I love the way those different coloured dresses go together. I'm having the same colour but different dresses for my bridesmaids as I want them all to feel like themselves.

Personally I'm not too keen on satin but then I think it would suit a winter wedding, especially in that colour.

I LOVE the dessy 2851, that's so beautiful, nice and neutral too so they could easily wear it again.

My bridesmaids can have whatever they want so long as it's the same colour. They've both picked a coast dress they both love, which is chiffon.

I'm having an October wedding, and they're having fur stoles/little jackets ?
