Bridesmaid Dresses - Alterations?

2013_Bride_, 10 April, 2013 at 15:50 Posted on Planning 0

Hi,

Do you think Bridesmaid dresses need to be altered by a specialist alterations person?

I've never had anything altered so not sure.

All they will need is maybe taken in and the length taken up.

There is no 'detail' on the dress as such.

They are Alfred Sung dresses.

I'm just thinking OH Mum has a sewing machine.... and has made her own dress in the past, is there any reason why I couldn't get her to do it?

Or just a standard alterations shop?

I don't want to spend a fortune on alterations.

Hi 2013_Bride, my auntie is altering the length of my BM dresses. They are corset-backed so don't need anything else altering. She is a seamstress by trade, but only alters dresses for friends and family nowadays. She's been very lovely about the whole thing and made the experience much more personal in my opinion. It's also her wedding gift to me so I'll think of her everytime I see a BM!
