Bridesmaid dresses - lightinthebox

louisebride, 15 June, 2012 at 19:37 Posted on Planning 0 5

First-time poster here so hello!

Just wondering if anyone here has used the Lightinthebox website to order bridesmaid dresses? It's apparently a cheaper way of ordering bridesmaid dresses in the same colour and fabric but with different styles for each girl (about £60-£80 a dress rather than the £120-£150 I was quoted from my wedding dress shop.)

I ordered a sample colour from the site a few weeks ago and it took about 3 1/2 weeks to arrive, then I ended up paying taxes on top of the shipping costs which put me off, but now my ideal dress in Debenhams seems to have been discontinued so I'm 2 dress sizes short for my girls.

Was thinking of returning the Debenhams dresses I do have and going back to the Lightinthebox solution, but am a bit worried about the taxes - also as my wedding's in September I know I'll have to order very soon to get it in time, so I don't know whether to ask all the girls to pick a favourite or just to pick one myself and ask them for their sizes.

Sorry this is a bit of a rambling post but if anyone has used this site and has any advice I would love to hear it!

I asked about buying wedding dresses from this website when I first joined hitched and I got a very mixed response.

I would try your luck on English sites first before buying from this one.

I wouldn't, the service is dreadful and the quality poor.

Do you have a flash of the bridesmaids dresses you bought from Debenhams? Hitchers are really good at finding bargain alternatives! I was just about to spend £160 per dress at coast but then I found a very similar one on Very for £55 and am thinking of buying those instead - all from a reccommendation on here to look on Very. TK maxx is also worth a look at the moment.

Thank you ladies, I had also heard mixed things so I wasn't sure! The other option I was looking at was the Dessy wrap dress, bit more money though.

Chickster - this is the Debnhams dress I like. I stupidly didn't buy them all when I first saw it as was waiting for a couple of the girl's sizes, and now it's in the sale and almost sold out! It would be great if anyone has spotted anything similar. This is the pic from the website, it's actually a darker red than it appears here.
