Bridesmaid dresses... please help, beyond stuck!!

MrsB-to-be, 25 November, 2012 at 19:54 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi everyone

So I've been looking for bridesmaid dresses for MONTHS now, and sadly still haven't worked out what I want. The colour scheme for the rest of the wedding is v neutral (creams/ v pale golds and lots of greenery in terms of flowers), however I'm not sure what to do in terms of bridesmaid dresses. Originally, I ordered these dresses (below) however when they arrived they look much darker and almost a bit brown. My OH thinks I'm being too 'boring' with colours... should I stick to neutal coloured bridesmaid dresses or go for something with a little bit more colour?

Opinions please... I'm tearing my hair out here!!

I like them! But if you are worried about being too dark could you go for a pale gold to match the other colours?

I had a nightmare with bridesmaid dresses because I am having teal which I cannot get the right shade of so I am having mine made by the Birmingham Dress Lady!

    Good luck!

Smiley smile thanks, it's so difficult!! these dresses looked pale dusky pink in the majority of piccies, that's why I picked them... sadly they a bit of a pants colour!! I did find them in a different colour (not the the same make but look identical?!) Think these would be too light?

Hi, might sound like a strange question but what month are you getting married? If its summertime then i think a paler colour will be lovely (you can always jazz it up with a pair of brighter shoes or flowers?). if its later in the year then a slightly darker colour might be better?

That said, the dresses you've posted are lovely - I'm a big believer in going with your gut instinct!

I love the dresses, they are stunning. Neutrals and greenery will look lovely. If you really wanted a bit of colour, could you add a streak of colour in your flowers or table decorations, but I think as you've got texture, that adds as much as colour.

Sorry I should have added... we're getting married at the end of May, so I wanted everything to be quite light... but still worred i might be going TOO light! Getting married in a country hotel, so there's a bit of a country classic theme going on I guess. Alternative coloursI've thought of are light sage green and pale dusky pinks.

The sort of theme I was going for is like this wedding:

but mine's not 'vinatge'... if that makes sense?!

I think the dress is gorgeous.

i spent MONTHS getting my bridesmaids to agree on a dress - so of course you can start looking for something else but it might be hard to see past the dress you already chose if you get my drift.

dont listen to anyone else about colour schemes. If you don't want bright colours then don't get bright colours! Of the dress is too dark could you add a gold sash to the dress? Or get some bright shoes and jewelry to jazz it up?

Ahh beautiful photography from our very own Nic at Daffodil Waves on that RMW post Smiley smile

I had neutral colours and got my girls' dresses from Rise Boutique (pics in report link in signature).

might be worth a look there? http://www.risefashion.co.uk
