Bridesmaid dresses too Expensive but I love them - Help!! *Flash*

JoHawes, 10 August, 2011 at 13:51 Posted on Planning 0 6

I have fallen in love with these bridesmaids dresses (they will be electric blue & ivory ) But they are £169 each the shop did say they would do me a deal so I may get one free. I need 4 adults and 1 flower girl. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who knows if there is anything very similar for less money? I am tempted to just bite the bullet and buy them as I love them. Also what is the ettiquate (sp) regarding asking bridesmaids to pay for their dresses I was thinking of asking them for £40 -£50 towards the dresses.

The dresses are from https://busybsbridals.co.uk/AlishaAdultBridesmaid/tabid/1187/Default.aspx

Trying to get photos off my phone but its not playing ball!! Will add them as soon as I can.

TIA

Jo

Have you had a look at vivienne of holloway or other similar suppliers? You can get that 1950's style in lots of other places for cheaper, perhaps even get them made?

tbh they don't look like they should cost £169

This is a sticky one. Did you prepare them up front that they might need to contribute to costs?

WSS. If you didnt ask them beforehand then I think it is a little cheeky to ask them now.

I agree. A friend asked me to be a bridesmaid then showed me which dress she'd chosen & asked if I could pay for it, I felt a bit awkward but said ok. He other bridesmaids said no though, so you need to be carefull that doesn't happen.

Yes I did ask them beforehand & they were happy with £40-£50 but in my naivety thought they would only be about £50 so I wouldn't ask them for any more than that. Stupidly asked them before I'd even started looking or had any idea what I wanted :o( I'm happy to pay the rest I just didn't think it'd be over £100 more!
