Bridesmaids...

sheree_heptinstall, 4 July, 2011 at 12:05 Posted on Planning 0 6

So just an opinion on bridesmaids really. I'm having 3 bridesmaids (my OH's sisters) and a maid of honour (my cousin) but I have one friend who has been there all the way through - to all my fittings, flower shop meetings and helped me out with lots of things so far. I had told a different friend that I would have liked her to be my BM, although we have had a HUGE falling out and I really don't want to give her the opportunity as I don't think she's really bothered.

So, I'm thinking of having my friend whose been there for me all the way through, and I know she'll be excited about things, however do you think 5 BM's are too many, I don't want things to look lopsided, with my OH having his dad as his BM, and my dad in suits.

I suppose I know my friend will be really excited and help out with things, so in my opinion she deserves to be a BM more than anyone.

You still have a long timie to go, id leave it a while before asking her....you may not even want this friend you have had a falling out with to be BM anymore.

if you can afford the costs of 2 extra BMs (dresses and what not) then go for it, but personally id wait

Yes, she'll be asked to step down, there's various bits and bats that have contributed to that decision though, not just about her involvement in my plans.

I'm close to the OH's sisters, but I agree with you, like you say, i think it would be nice to have a friend who I'm close to and who has literally stuck by me through thick and thin, which she has always been there for me.

With regards to cost, we have had a discussion about that, and we've agreed to pay for the flowers on the day, and my OH mum has said she will pay for her 3 BM's dresses and my MOH will pay for her own (we're going to put some money towards them) so that isn't really an issue. With the gifts, again, I'm going to see what I can do. x

Personally i think there is nothing wrong with having 5 bridesmaids, surround yourself with people that arent going to add stress to you on the day. By the sounds of it this friend that your thinking about asking will be good to have around you and will help with what she can Smiley smile

I had 5 bridesmaids to start with. Then OH's sister stepped down so now just 4. I dont think there is anything wrong with 5.

Well............im having 9 in total 7 adults 2 flower girls, so think 5 is absolutely fine. i dont care what anyone thinks or if it looks too much. I love these people so i'm really pleased they will all be playing a part in the day. if you think she deserves it then she probably does and will be so nice for you both to have someone who is really excited and hepful ?
